Altered Spring Folder

Howdy! Spring in Texas is different from year to year. It always depends on the winter rains. If it rains we have a glorious display of wildflowers thanks to the late Lady Bird Johnson--it was part of her mission in life to beautify this great state's highways and fields with glorious blooms--they are sacred here. If the rains don't come then there are a few hardy perenials that will pop up despite the drought but some of the truly spectacular blooms never show their face. THIS winter we had an unusual amount of rain. The result: MOUNDS of beautiful flora...AND an amazing amount of butterflies. I have been active overtime taking photos documenting this season--as I do every spring--and this folder will be the best place to display some of these gorgeous photographs. I hope you enjoy--and can bear to see flowers ans butterflies from me ONE more time!  For this project you need : AP1724 Collage Backgrounds I AP2125 Little Spring Birdies AP1065 Beautiful Bu

Titanic tag

Hi everyone, Katrina from the design team here. We have just had the 100th anniversary of the sinking of the Titanic and there are images everywhere. I have used the Altered pages Titanic collage sheet 297 to make this tag as my tribute to that great ship and all who lost their lives that night.                                                                                               Love Katrina

Creating Vintage

How do you make something look old or vintage?  I've heard this question being asked several times this week in different things I've been doing.  There are many different ways to give the look of old to a project including using computer programs, but one of the easiest ways is by the ink you use.  Simply by stamping in a muted color such as brown will achieve this.  For this tag, I used the Paris Ink in Sepia to give it the vintage look.  I, also, inked the edges which is part of a vintage look, too.  Using paper that contains browns, golds and muted yellows is another good way.  Here I stamped directly onto the sheet of Glitz patterned paper.  This is a simple starting point to add the vintage look and you can continue that look just by the embellishments that you add to your projects.  For some great vintage embellishments be sure to go and check out the Altered Pages store .  They have a great selection of things to choose from to give you the look you are wantin

A Steampunk Collage

Hi everyone! Becky here today to share a Steampunk Collage I did recently in a class... I first created a background by covering a 12x16 masonite board with gel medium & a graphic piece of tissue paper to get some texture. I then went in with a few colors of acrylic paint until I achieved the color balance I wanted. I used some stencils & some acrylic inks here & there. After it was all dry, I began adding the paper elements. All the gears & clock images in the corner are from various Steampunk sheets { HERE }. The larger image was one I found online ages ago & manipulated myself. I REALLY wish I'd had on hand the awesome chipboard gears & stamps from the AP shop! Check them out HERE !! I'm not sure it's 100% complete, but I wanted to share it with you today anyway!   Thanks for stopping by! - Becky

Recording History

This was a quick and easy card to make with the help of Altered Pages Collage sheets. I used the image of the old car from AP261 Vintage Automobiles. I found some patterned paper to match and chose a bright yellow card base. I cut a strip of cardstock with a zig zag border die to go behind the image and used a label die for the sentiment.

Altering a Recycled Plastic Dome into a Victorian Butterfly Aviary

Welcome to Altered Pages ! Susan here bringing you a special upcycled project using a recycled liquor bottle dome packaging. I have altered this container into my own butterfly aviary using Altered Pages Victorian Butterfly image sheet AP-1066 . It is so easy to become inspired with the Collage Sheets from Altered Pages. With this project - flat butterflies come to life in a 3-dimesional decorative piece. I began with these items: an empty recycled dome,  Victorian Butterfly image sheet AP-1066  and paper shred. Then I began cutting... There are so many butterflies on this sheet { AP-1066 } that I only fussy cut 2/3 of them. I printed out this page twice, once as is, and the second I flipped horizontally. Then I fussy cut the butterflies, inked edges using ECO Safe Paris Trunk Sepia Ink and added antennae with a super thin silver wire. I glued matching fronts and backs together. I used a piece of recycled imagesetting film {which is thick clear acetate} to form a

Doodling along

I was doodling along on top of my painted page when I got up to do something, came back and shuffled some stuff around on the table (looking for what Lord only knows) and this gypsy woman fell on top. Well, that's kind of neat I thought. So I pasted her down and continued to doodle... She's from the Sign of the Gypsy collage sheet   ingridvient.blogspot.com

yearning in my heart

You know my favorite art thing is making books, right? Well, okay, you're right, my favorite art thing is whatever I'm making at the moment, but let's not quibble on such a fine Friday . . . This isn't an altered book in that it's a book that's been altered, because it isn't. However, it IS an altered book in that the pages are made from small file folders, which have been altered. Into a book. Have you tried the Altered Pages transparencies? ANY of the collage pages are available as transparencies. This book features silent film star Theda Bara--that black and white makes more sense now, doesn't it?? Have a wonderful weekend! :) trisha

“Metal” Image Transfer

Hello Lovelies Kelli here.   Transferring images is not new to any of us I am sure but transferring images onto metal is new to me!!!  I used Collage Sheet 1056D Winged Women and Metal Sheets found here , a little fluid matte medium, some water, and finger power and you have a cool image transfer that can be used on anything!!! You can find more pictures and a tutorial on my blog ! I have no completed project today as this is in the line up of a process that will take a long time for me to finish the project!

Pretty in Pink

Growing up I used to be a pink kind of girl.  My room was pink, I wore a lot of pink...pink was in with me, but then as I got older my color choices changed.  Now, I'm the odd number out because I'm the only girl in the house.  Yes, I'm out numbered, but I'm finding the girly girl inside of me again and have been letting it show in what I've been creating.  I'm in my pink mood again!  When I found the Think Pink collage sheet from Altered Pages , I knew I had to create a card from one of them and one is just the beginning because you get so many collages on the page you will have to use them all like I will be doing.  I, also, wanted to give it a worn distressed look like an old card would have so once I distressed the edges I used the Sepia Paris Ink Pad that Altered Pages carries to add to the worn look.  Did you know the Paris Ink Pads are eco-friendly?  How fantastic is that?  Be sure to check them out.  Earth Day is just around the corner it's a

Altered Spring Trinket Box

Happy Friday 13th everyone! This is Leslie-Rahye from Texas! Spring is in full force here and it has me thinking of flowers and birds and butterflies! Altered Pages has these amazing collage sheets with beautiful spring images all over them that inspired me to create this fun Trinket Box for hiding treasures that I find this spring. For this project you need : tissue paper AP2125 Little Spring Birdies AP1065 Beautiful Butterflies AP461 Pierre-Joseph Redoute Paris Trunk Ink Walnut Double Stick Tape ModPodge Trim Staedtler Pigment Liner Clear Embossing powder a wooden box To create this project, I applied tissue to the wooden box with ModPodge. I trimmed out the images from the college sheets that I thought went best with my idea. They were also adhered to the tissue covered box with modpodge. Once the adhesive was dry, I coated the images with Walnut Ink to age them. I then spinkled some Clear Emboss powder over the surface of the lid and heat set i

Coffee cup holder book

Hello, Katrina here from a sunny England. It has been a beautiful spring here in Bristol, all the daffodils and tulips are blooming and there are lots of bees and butterflies about. I rarely buy takeaway coffee but we did the other day and I just had to keep the wonderful corrugated cup holders! With a little bit of paint and ribbon and some off cuts of paper I made this cute little book. I used the lovely Muca Collage sheet for the front and the backgrounds ii to use as a background. This is a great project to use up all the scraps you have and would make a lovely gift to pop in with a card or just for yourself as its small enough to keep in a pocket for all those things you need to jot down when you are out and about. Happy Crafting! Love Katrina

Let's Do Lunch!

Over the weekend I was lucky enough to hit an auction and win a box of old compacts...  I knew exactly what I was going to do with at least one of them as soon as I won them. Let's Do Lunch.... I instantly fell in love with the "Ladies Who Lunch" collage sheet when I first saw it.  I knew I had to create some sort of collage using them.  They were just too cool not to.  Anyway, I thought they would fit in perfectly with the classy old compact.  The background is one of the images from the sheet - "New York".   I also used a bit of sepia ink around the edges of each image; Brown Glass Glitter ; Glitz Trims and a few of my own vintage buttons and alpha beads. For complete information on how I made this collage feel free to check out this collage ~ Let's Do Lunch. Enjoy! ~ Ink Stained Roni ~

Today I am sharing this 8x10 canvas with you.. The adorable fairy was my muse . She's from the Beautiful Dreamer red rubber set {currently out of stock, but check back soon!} I stamped her onto one of those waxy sheets you pick up at the grocers bakery to get donuts & cookies out of the case! I was going to leave her semi-transparent, but decided I wanted her to pop more, so I brushed some cream paint behind her. The rest of the canvas was painted with acrylic paints & then colla

Easter Egg Cup

I know Easter is almost upon us but I thought I'd share a quick and easy craft that will not only provide you with a beautiful way to display your Easter Eggs but it will also give you a break from the hustle and bustle of getting ready for the holiday.... Easter Egg cups! Supplies: AP Victorian Easter Glass Glitter Sepia & Blotter Inks Scissors Cardstock Crepe Paper (optional) Instructions: Choose your desired images and center them in a vertical line down the center of your page and print them out.... By printing the images this way you will leave enough cardstock to form a ring at the bottom of each image which will end up hold the egg once your cup is formed. Now cut each image/ring apart.  You'll want to cut about .25-.5" below each image for the ring.  You also need to make a cut on each side of the image near the center point.  Cut from the image toward the outer edge. This excess cardstock about the center point will be removed in the next step. It

Vintage Easter

I love the look of distressed vintage and have always been fascinated by old postcards, cards and such.  This is a vintage card that I created after being inspired by the eggs and chicks on the Victorian Easter Collage Sheet from Altered Pages .  I found the sentiment that tied it all together perfectly on the  Occasional Words Collage Sheet . Then, I added a sheet of patterned paper from the Glitz Paper Pad that had the  distressed look that I was out to create after distressing the edges of the card base. This is what I ended up with when I put it all together.   Isn't it just the cutest?   Happy Easter Everyone! ~Peg Dream!  Create!  Inspire!
