Shaped ATCs

Artist trading cards don't have to be 2 1/2 by 3 1/2 rectangles--you can make them any shape you like.  I try to technically keep to the standard dimensions, meaning that somewhere the card is 2 1/2, and somewhere it is 3 1/2.  (The captions are links, by the way.) Mr. Poe and his Raven This Poe gothic arch atc is 2 1/2 inches at the base, and 3 1/2 tall.   Vintage Text background and Moth transparency This bird shaped card is 2 1/2 from the top of his little head to the bottom of his tummy, and 3 1/2 inches long. Easter collage atc This egg shaped collage also meets the technical size of an atc, but obviously in egg form! This last gothic arch topped atc also opens: an atc sized triptych The next time you're out to make an artist trading card, consider the possibilities of creating in not-rectanglular shapes.   Happy Thursday to you! :)trisha

Easter Blessings

Hi everyone! It's me  Tonya  and since Easter is right around the corner I wanted to share a card I created using the past  Mailbox Muse Magical Gypsy Bazaar Kit  and  Kunze German Scraps . I have never had the opportunity to use the German foil before but let me say this I love it! I started by cutting and folding an embossed piece of green polka dot Bazzill cardstock to create a 5" x 5 1/2" cardbase.  Ink the edges of the 4 3/4" x 4 3/4" light green polka dot cardstock and adhere off center of the base along with the german foil white medallion. I cut a 1 3/4" x  5 1/2" stripe of patterned cardstock and center and adhere along with the an pink piece of cardstock cut slightly larger than the gold german foil and adhere to the top of the card base. I fussy cut the bunny from the  Fresh Springtime printable , added a little  Star Dust Stickles  to the egg and adhered to the card along with the sentiment tha...

a peeky Easter egg. Kind of like a sugar egg--the kind you peek in?

Honestly, I don't have a better name than "peeky egg"--let's just get on with the photos, shall we?  A beautiful (and sturdy) Kunze German Scrap butterfly or two, lots of spring flowers,  some netting and shiny paints, along with an Easter Collage image-- and voila!  A peeky egg! As in my previous post , this egg is coated with a collage of paper pieces from an Altered Pages Vintage Text collection , and given a coat of shimmery metallic paints.   Altered Pages has some really sweet Easter collages sheets , perfect for your spring art, not to mention lots of luscious German Scrap. Want to see how to make your own peeky egg?  Check out THIS POST . Want a few more details on this particular egg?  Check out THIS POST. Thank you for stopping by the Artsociates blog today, and a Happy Thursday to you!

Easter Treat Picks!!!

These cute Easter picks would make great decorations on cupcakes, a cake or even in Easter Baskets.  They could even be used as  embellishments on greeting cards!           Supplies: KUNZE German Scrap Altered Pages Sweet Easter Cards Collage Sheet Double Sided Tape Crepe Paper Skewers Pattern Paper KaiserCraft Tacky Glue     Create a crepe paper ruffle using double sided tape, make it about six to seven inches long (depending on the size of the KUNZE German Scrap medallion).   Carefully apply the crepe paper ruffle to the back of the KUNZE German Scrap medallion.  Then tape a skewer in place.   Punch a flower or cut a circle to glue on the back to make it look finished.       This is what the  front of the skewer should look like, with the crepe paper ruffle and the   KUNZE German Scrap medallion glued on  .  ...

Have an "altered" day ~ Ink Stained Roni

Celebrate Life with the Robin's Nest and Altered Pages!

I got some happy (e)-mail in my inbox recently from Jean which was titled a 'Silly Collage for You' so I just had to open it straight away!  I wasn't disappointed either as on it was the most adorable picture of spring colored chickadees.  You know the type you see under lights in the animal nursery exhibits at most local/country shows.  Being a lover of birds especially the bright and colorful I just knew it was going to feature on my next project.  The collage sheet with this image available from Altered Pages is called Spring Whimsy. Throughout this month we have been cross promoting with the Robin's Nest who have a fabulous range of papers and embellishments perfect for all occasions, celebrations and adventures in life and I just love them. The AP Team were sent a range of their Spring and Easter Inspired Papers to use, along with some of the wonderful dew drops, embellishments, stickers and their rub-ons. My finished Chickadee Card, with other Easte...

Recycled Tin Can = Mini Easter Bucket

Ink Stained Roni here.  This month Altered Pages Artsociates has the fun opportunity to incorporate products offered at The Robin's Nest into our projects. If you've visited my blog you'll know I love to re-purpose every day items destine for the trash bin into art.  Today I wanted to share what I recently did with a tin can I saved from the recycle bin. I started off by covering the entire can with a few layers of gesso.  The gesso allows you to add various color mediums that you might not be able to otherwise. Once the gesso dried I covered the can with Dylusions Spray Ink...  I heat set the colors on each side before rolling it and adding more until the entire can was colored.  It was fun to watch the inks run down the little grooves in the can because as they did they combined to create new combinations. I added a strip of Aquamarine Sorbet cardstock to the center of the can which I added a line detail to the edge using a Micron pen. ...
