A Touch of Red

I altered a cigar box to make a gift box.     I used Prima flowers, Dixie Belle Chalk Paint, Sabor embellishments,Stencils with hearts, Gelatos, Art Alchemy Sparks Ginger Magic, fabric tape and MicaColor.  I used the lemonade chalk to cover the box. Then I  used the MicaColor to run the Sparkle Gold down the sides in drips. I took the Prima flowers and used a marker to color the edges and then sprayed with alcohol to blend the color. I use some textured cardstock and rubbed gold gelato on it to get a nice look.   I also used one of your stencils and cut out the bee medallion.  I used the Stencil and some Art Anthology to make a textured embellishment on the top and sides I used the seam tape and put the the ribbon on the top and side to keep closed. The ribbon is stained with the art alchemy Ginger Magic and distress ink.  I used a Sabor embel...

Little Box of Love

This month for 'Love makes the World go Round'  I wanted to make a tiny box for a Valentine or other gift. I wanted it to Shout LOVE , so here is what I did... I began with a small oval shaped box and painted it with pinks and oranges for a mixed painted metallic look.  I stamped a heart image on to a patterned piece of pretty paper and then fussy cut it out. Next, I glued around the heart edges and added pink sparkly glitter for a cute outline Finally, I added some pink/beige flat back pearls all around the edges using larger ones at the bottom and smaller on the top. I made them more secure by using a strong glue for this. Items needed: Pigment Ink Pretty paper - There are some lovely ones here Glitter Paints Flatback pearls Glue Strong Tacky glue

Altered Box with Lace

I decided to make a little trinket box from an old make up box. Now unfortunately the first pictures did not turn out on my camera so I apologize for that. I will however, explain the process before I got to the stage of the first photo here.  An old cardboard make up box was used, but this would work on any box. I first covered in gesso. Then covered in scrunched up aluminium foil and left to dry. I used tacky glue to adhere it to the box. I then added a layer of tissue with tacky glue and left it to dry. A coat of gesso again to cover.  I found some chipboard and wooden shapes some fabric silk puffy stars from my stash and I  got to work arranging them how I  wanted them, then adhered everything with tacky glue and left to dry.  Next, I  took some lovely craft lace (mine was peach colored) any colour would be ok. I adhered with tacky glue to all the sides and left to dry.  The next stage was to pa...

Sweet Floral Treasure Box!

Last month I has honored to be a little part of a very special day... my cousin's wedding!  Here in the Pacific Northwest we have had one of the rainiest years on record. The wedding day was blessed without any rain! It was a great pleasure working with  the bride and groom on their wedding invitations. Many don't know this, but at one time I did a lot of cake decorating.  Yes, I made the bride and groom a small wedding cake.  The most wonderful part of the day was I got to photograph the event.  No I am not a professional, but I do enjoy taking pictures! Here is a peak at the day! This was David and Leah's day.   The invitations, all edges lined with silver pen, were sent out weeks ago!     The cake had been baked the day before and final decorating touches were done on site.       The Bride & Groom in front of the small church they were married in!   ...

Wine Gift Box Redo

Wish your gift of organic, artisan wine could be presented with more than a cute bow? AlteredPages.com has the answer. (Of course this is not limited to wine; think bubble bath, DIY vinegar, local olive oil, etc...) Way better, correct?! So easy peasy and mistake-proof, r eally! Here is what you need to order: Paper Mache Tall Box    Dixie Belle Chalk Paints and Glazes    Leaves Stencil    Ribbon   Embellishments     Paper mache loves chalk paint! First, I used the leaf stencil and the Mud Puddle paint. Then I covered most of the box in Buttercream paint with a chip brush, dry brushing thin coats and wiping off as needed. Next I used a soft cloth and rubbed in more Mud Puddle in places. Nice, but I needed to add this season's big metallic--GOLD! The Gold Glaze was rubbed all over the entire box and lid. I let it set a moment while I opened the Grunge Glaze and used the cloth to add a thin laye...

Make Mine Chocolate Gift Box

Hi all!  As you probably know by now, our theme this month is "It's A Wrap", which is all about packaging and the way your gift is presented.  As I said before, the packaging can be just as beautiful as the gift itself.  But I think that a gift package can either excite or bore the recipient.  I vote for exciting the recipient and making them want to open their gift.    So here is my finished gift package.  I wonder what I will put in it ...  could it be CHOCOLATE? Once again, I found this round, cardboard type of salt container in my stash.  Yes, I am a hoarder of all things possibly crafty!   What was especially nice about this particular salt container was that the top popped off quite easily, making it perfect for turning into a gift package.  Just look around and see what you can use in a similar fashion. I measured the height and circumference of my can, and cut a piece of the  adhesive corrugate...
