Royal Air Mail - Unruly PaperArts & Leaky Shed Mail Art!

This month Altered Pages is teaming up with Unruly PaperArts for some artsy fun! This month Unruly PaperArts April theme is Mail Art & Moos. Two of my favorite types of art to create so I was very excited. Each month Unruly PaperArts shares Reader Art Quest Creative Prompts ~ to inspire and encourage you to create art ~ they then request you to share that art. This months Reader Art Quest  prompts are "Teacups & Tiaras" along with the photo (shown below) - tea cups, tiara, peacock feathers, etc...  Beautiful isn't it?   As I took inspiration from both the theme for April - Mail Art and the Reader Art Quest creative prompts I came up with today's contribution... Royal Air Mail I like to start out with used envelopes for my mail art but finding one using stamps is few and far between anymore.... but luckily I had this envelope stashed away for use one day.  Just didn't know it was going to be for art!  I started of...

Recycled Tin Can = Mini Easter Bucket

Ink Stained Roni here.  This month Altered Pages Artsociates has the fun opportunity to incorporate products offered at The Robin's Nest into our projects. If you've visited my blog you'll know I love to re-purpose every day items destine for the trash bin into art.  Today I wanted to share what I recently did with a tin can I saved from the recycle bin. I started off by covering the entire can with a few layers of gesso.  The gesso allows you to add various color mediums that you might not be able to otherwise. Once the gesso dried I covered the can with Dylusions Spray Ink...  I heat set the colors on each side before rolling it and adding more until the entire can was colored.  It was fun to watch the inks run down the little grooves in the can because as they did they combined to create new combinations. I added a strip of Aquamarine Sorbet cardstock to the center of the can which I added a line detail to the edge using a Micron pen. ...

Art Calendar Journaling

Happy last Friday of 2013! Can you believe this year has passed so quickly?? This is the time of the year that I look back to what I have done, the goals I set last year and think about what I want to accomplish in the next year. Each year for about the past 3 years I've tried to take part in a monthly altered art calendar challenge and for the past three years I have been short of completing the whole year. This year I will once again attempt to challenge myself in this way! Today I've created the January layout for 2014 to get ahead for the new year. I am creating this art journal calendar on an upcycled brochure from work. I glued newspaper strips to the pages to provide an even surface for my calendar page. Next I gessoed the background, masked a couple of squares, and layered on pink and turquoise mists drying between mists. Next I added white mists and white pearl drying before removing my square masks to give a glisteny snowy impression. I added pink and turquoise ...

Happy Hump Day Everyone... Ink Stained Roni here.   During the month of October AlteredPages.com is participating in a month-long blog hop with some amazing artists. There are prizes to win, be sure to check out all the rules  HERE  and information on the daily scavenger hunt is posted there! You must go  HERE  to find the item/s you are looking for the scavenger hunt.     And here's my project for today... An Inchie Art Canvas.    I started off with an 8x10 canvas art board  which I covered with various bits of Vintage Text paper . I then misted the canvas with Dylusions Spray Ink .   I then punched out several mini Halloween images from Altered Pages huge collection. I also stamped a few bottle cap images (Inkadinkado) onto some ...

31 Days of Halloween--Day 5: All about the candy!

Are you having a great time with the hop so far?  There are some fabulous  projects and pieces along the way, definitely a little something for everyone! Here is a, well, you can help me decide--I'm leaning towards calling it a  "tabletop collage." Now THAT is scary!  (Seriously, what's the point of Halloween if there isn't any candy?????) I have little easels, and thought about just setting this out, but I have a friend who LOVES Halloween, so instead made it an easel card: Just in case you've never seen an easel card: click for Super Simple Easel Card Tutorial (The horrified couple are of course from an Altered Pages collage sheet , the background was created from Dylusion Ink Sprays , and the flames are from a hand carved stamp .)  So, what do you think?  Is it more of a card, or a tabletop collage? Have fun hopping--see you along the way! (The linkys  are up in the top right corner, btw . . . ) :)trisha
