Bird on Bike Journey

I think I am having a little too much fun with my Gelatos and Lost Coast Design stamps!  I am so glad Altered Pages had the opportunity to partner with Lost Coast Design, I have had a great time stamping this month!  Today I am sharing a third technique using Gelatos the other two were direct to paper.  This time I am taking the paper to the Gelatos.   Today I am using the unmounted Grunge Tree from   Lost Coast Designs stamps. It is a background stamp, measuring 4 x 5 1/4. and the Silhouette of Bird on Bike stamp, which is 3 inches tall.       Supplies Lost Coast Designs Stamps  -Grunge Tree and Bird on Bike Acrylic Block Double Sided Tape Waterbrush Gelatos - assorted colors Craft Mat Black ink Embossing Powder Cardstock Water -spray bottle   Using random colors rub Gelatos on the craft mat. Mist the Gelatos with water.  You may need to use the waterbrush to full...

Under the Sea Fantasy Art Tiles

It's Danie May with a special visual treat. This week I have been creating some art tiles for a swap, so thought I would continue on this path and create some larger ones for my post today using the Under the Sea Fantasy Stamp Set from Mailbox Muse. I started by cutting out square tiles from a thick piece of chipboard which was the back cover of a watercolor paper pad.  My squares are just under 3 inches in size.  I used a square nesting die to trace this size and shape (as the card was a little to thick to die cut) and cut them out with my scissors. Using some paper scraps, I then die cut some squares using this die.  These cut slightly smaller than my traced squares so once I glued them onto my tiles using Gel Medium they created a lip/frame around my tiles.  Once dry I gave my tiles a light wash of gesso.  I then took out my Gelli Plate and a mix of blue and green paints to create my background.  I added paint to the plate and simply s...

Christmas Tree with a Sputnik feel

Good Morning Everyone!   Jean here. Where has time gone?  We all keep asking the question.  Do you remember being a kid and the time went  agonizingly slowly during December? Not anymore, seems like I just washed the Thanksgiving dishes and we are opening the Christmas gifts!   I was alive in the late 50's so I have a treasure trove of memories.  Things like the aluminum Christmas tree complete with the rotating light and making Sputnik*  ornaments from foam balls and toothpicks with glitter or paint. (* Russian Sputnik satellites sent into orbit during the late 1950s. Literally "fellow wanderer" in Russian)   Those red cellophane wreaths (anyone remember??!!) and train displays under the tree.   My In-laws actually waited until the (5) kids went to bed on Christmas Eve to put up the tree, do a full blown train display platform and assemble gifts! They must have had far more energy than me!! That crazy Sputnik inspired me to creat...

Happy Valentines Day! Eiffel Love You Forever Angel!

HAPPY VALENTINES DAY!   I love creating Valentines...   Today I used one of the Altered Pages wooden angels  to create this cute Eiffel Valentine!       To start remove the wire hanger for easier painting.... save if as it will be reattached in the end.  Prime the wooden angel with gesso !   Paint the angel with Pink Glamour Dust Ultra Fine Glitter Paint, let dry.  Cut arms and face from   Altered Paper Dolls Collage Sheet .  Using VersaMark on the arms heat emboss with clear embossing powder, repeat a couple of times (this stiffens the paper). Stamp image of Eiffel Tower  on tissue, heat emboss with clear embossing powder and adhere to the angel body.   Attach arm with Tacky Glue   Use Duo to attach Gold Leaf Foil . Adhere face from  Altered Paper Dolls Collage Sheet  to head. Ten attach Dew Drops to wings and head. ...

True Love Stories... Mixed Media ATB

By now I'm sure you know that the AP team is sharing projects created using DecoArt products during the month of January.  I am so happy and excited about this as DecoArt has a newer product line called DecoArt Media which is an entire line dedicated to mixed media artists. I decided to start off by making an Artist Trading Block ... I used several products from the Media line and thought I'd share a bit about each....   I started off by gluing down my vintage text and collage images to the block using DecoArt Media Matte Medium .  It can be used as a collage glue, photo transfer medium, a clear ground and more. The consistency of this medium is very nice - it's slightly thicker than most of the thinner "white glue" like collage glues on the market which makes it far easier to control and I found it to be less messy.  I love the matte finish - it's great as a "clear gesso" and doesn't dry "slick" or glossy like ...
