Fine, yes, you already know we overdo Independence Day at our house, but at the risk of oversharing, here is yet another 4th of July party project.  These are practical AND fun, as they can serve as chalkboard buffet signs.  Plus, I had blue chalkboard paint in my stash, waiting to be used!  1.  Two coats of blue chalkboard paint on Foundations Décor Banner Circles.   2.  Red cardstock circles, cut to fit, with a little distressing and inking to the edges.  A ring of white eyelet added to the NOT painted side of the wooden circle, along with a red painted wooden skewer. Tacky Glue is perfect for this.  3.  Patriotic collage images, cut to (almost) fit inside the red cardstock circle, inked with some Mix'd Media Salazar Inx.   I attached the images with a  glue stick . We're making wooden treasures this month - many fun projects with Foundations Decor and other types of wooden bases!  Today I have a wooden ATB (Artist Trading Block) to share.  With the Fourth of July holiday so close, I thought a patriotic theme cube would be fun. Altered Pages is carrying a beautiful 6x6 paper pad by Authentique called Heroic.   These are really super designs!  I chose to use 5 of them on my block.  The sixth side is really the bottom of the block.  I always decorate it anyway.  I used a red and white pattern from the 6x6 Authentique pad called Saucy for that side.  Attach your paper with glue or a quality double-sided tape.  One of the Heroic designs has a second side the is dark blue with polka dots.  I used that side for the cut out stars.  Use any cutting die, punch or stencil in your collection to get the look you want. Hello again!  I had a lot of fun with this Foundations Decor project this month.  Or should I say we had fun...Uncle Sam and me! Altered Pages and Foundations Decor are partnering this month to bring you some fun with their wonderful wooden projects.  We've already seen some really beautiful projects.  I hope you enjoy this one, too. The Uncle Sam kit comes with a main shape and additional pieces to enhance his beard, mustache and hat. I happen to have inexpensive bottles of acrylic paint in my craft studio so I applied a layer of gesso and then painted Uncle's face and hat.  I held the beard up to the painted base to judge where his mouth would be.  I added a little pink to the flesh tone to paint the lips that will barely show through.
