WELCOME The Crafters Workshop

Thanks to The Crafters Workshop for partnering with us this month. Jaime Echt and her team do amazing projects and we are proud to create with them.  Thanks to Cheryl Boglioli, The Crafters Workshop Design Team and Education Coordinator for leading the efforts to make October memorable. I wanted to show you how simply you can get amazing results with acrylic paint and a Crafters Workshop stencil.  This stencil is an original design by   MARLENE MEIJER-VAN NIEKERK, Floating City. I was fortunate to purchase a Class Package when I went to CHA last January.  Did you know that Crafter Workshop has an amazing line of mediums and paints too?  The color names make me hungry;  grape jelly,  orange slice ,  blueberry pie, raspberry sorbet, blue jellybean, lemon custard to name just a few.  I know one of my main Art issues is to be freer and overcome the OVERTHINKING of projects.   I decided to let the art...

Peace Love and "Rescue"

So, have you been hearing about  Cr ea ti va ti on 2017?  Well, Altered Pages was there!  This is the most exciting show in the arts and crafts industry and it happened this past weekend in beautiful Phoenix, AZ.   There was so much to look at and take in (which you hopefully have seen over the last few days here on our blog.)  Networking with other artists and crafters was such a joy.  This certainly is one fun group of folks and some names you might recognize like Tim Holtz, Cathie Fillian, Mark Montano, Carolyn Dube and Dyan Reaveley.   There was even a David Tutera spotting.   The show floor was huge and the festivities lasted for days, so this is just a fraction of what I saw, but I hope it gets you excited for what is in store in the coming months here at Alteredpages.com . It really is inspiring to be at the show.  Whether you are a mixed media artist, a painter, paper craft...

What's going on at Creativation ~

Classes are so varied and great learning is happening for everyone. We had wonderful instructors  and fun times. Meet Carmen from the Phoenix Fridas, they have a craft collective that meets monthly and does public events like the July celebration of Frida's birthday with art, cakes, dancing and more.   We will tell you more about creating your own art group in your town or neighborhood.   Here is some of our gang being silly after a class, you are either walking your feet off or making your bottom tired from sitting....so we had to get up and laugh a bit.   Meet some of the Team, see them say Hi to YOU Much more to come from today's opening of the Show floor, meeting all the vendors and reconnecting with old friends.   See ya later!

Mixed Media Altered Journal

Happy Friday everyone! I have been doing a lot of cards for my other crafty obligations lately and just needed to get painty and misty! There is a group of crafters making altered journals for soldiers and while THIS journal is not for that, I did want to practice doing some journals in this style in preparation for a future soldier journal. THIS journal is for a friend of mine. They are super fun to do--collect your trinkets and trims, collage glue and dimensional glue, gesso, and mists. I began by crumpling up some packing paper that came with my most recent AlteredPages.com order and gluing it to a composition journal with some Beacon Fast Finish Decoupage. I then added some doilies [both paper and fabric] to the cover with a dimensional glue to hold the heavier objects. I continued adding my flatter embellishments to the cover of the journal--chipboard, metal, bling. I coated this first layer with Gesso. Next I added more!! I clustered dollar store flowers and felt coa...
