Alice's Tag

Alice in Wonderland is always a favorite. She got into my head and I couldn't stop thinking about her...so my next tag is all about Alice. I began with our jumbo tag and grabbed the "Alice" colors of paper, along with embellishments and the original art stamp plate from the Muse.  I like to get double duty from supplies, so I often use things that were meant for other things! (does that make sense?) Layering the papers I found that I really liked the soft line of the black and white die cut paper placed on the bold chevron stripe. To round out the patterns I chose the fleur de lis. I created a pocket and inserted the mini playing cards of the Queen of Hearts and a Jack of Spades.    Nex, I stamped Alice, cut out from the stamp plate and used our acrylic block with double sided tape to add her image on bold red paper.   I bit of washi tape and a small rose charm finished her.             Then a...

Advice From A Caterpillar

A couple of days ago I posted my Foundations Décor Floral Wood Butterfly . You have heard it before, I think outside the box! I kept looking at the butterfly and kept saying to myself something is missing.  This is a dimensional butterfly, it has a bare back.  The gears in my brain started churning, "what could I do without taking away from the stained wood?"    Add text, not just any text, butterfly related text.   One of my favorite themes is ALICE...  she has a conversation with a caterpillar... that was what lead to the text used for this project!         Supplies: Foundations Decor Wood Butterfly Clothes Pin Dixie Belle Van Dyke Glaze Metalic Rub on Adhesive Argyle Amber Florals Text Foundations Décor Floral Wood Butterfly Click on the above link to see how I stained the Foundations Decor Wood Butterfly  with  Dixie Belle ...

Late for Tea Again!

The White Rabbit is running late again, will the other guests be mad because of his lack of punctuality or curiously curious as to why? Don't you just love Alice in Wonderland...........I do and I just love playing with the stamps of this theme from the Mailbox Muse Alice's Utterly Mad Tea Party.......today I have made a simple tag. Supplies: Alice Mailbox Muse Stamp Set Tags Glitz Papers Watercolor Pencils Water Brush Ink Adhesive Seam Binding/Ribbon Stain I started by stamping out images onto white cardstock, cutting out and coloring with my Watercolor Pencils. Taking a tag I used this as a template to cut out a piece of paper to fit, and another Alice Theme Scrap of Paper to simply layer.  I stuck these all together on the tag and inked the edges. I then placed and adhered my colored images. Lastly taking a piece of seam binding I dyed this with Distress Stain to a color to complement the tag. And added this to my...

Down the rabbit hole

Hi Everyone, Jess here with an Alice themed tag.   I had this fairy stamp from  Fairie Song Stamps  and I wanted to use just the mushrooms.  I used my Staz On ink to stamp the mushrooms onto shrink plastic.   Once the ink was dry I colored in my images using colored pencils.  I poked holes in the top of the mushrooms, but didn't end up using the holes. I used my heat gun to shrink the images and set them aside.  Notice how intense the colors are! I always keep that in mind when I use shrink plastic.   I cut my Alice  image out and changed the words on her tag from "Drink Me" to "Eat Me."  I glued a tiny mushroom onto her hand and set the image aside. To make my background I used a dye ink and stencil.  Once I had the entire tag covered I shifted the image and covered up what I had just inked leaving the manila exposed.  I used a second ink color and then my whole tag was covered! It's a super easy way...
