Kitty Cat

This month one of my friends in her art group on Facebook started offering some journal prompts to play along with.  One of the prompts was Kitty and I immediately thought of the fun collage sheet available from Altered Pages. I started by adding some Gesso to my page as the Coffee I had used to color the previous page had seeped through a little.  Because of this I also decided to use a coffee toned paint for a little stencilling with the Fireworks Stencil from The Crafter's Workshop to highlight the cute quote which was on the page of the cover on one of the Authentique Paper Pads. In no time at all I had my creative fix and a simple but cute take on the journal prompt. Danie xx

Durable Card for Father's Day

Hi Everyone Danie back with my second post for August.  As you know this month the team have been focusing on projects with Fall in mind.........being on the other side of the world we are actually approaching our Spring so it is with September in the Southern Hemisphere in mind I am creating today. Here in Australia we celebrate Father's Day on the first Sunday of September. I am going back to basics using lots of papers from the Authentique Durable 6 x 6 Paper Pad layered together for a quick make. This paper pad is perfect for male projects with manly colors, patterns and images which also match the Scrabble Tiles on the Scrabble Tiles Collage Sheet perfectly. The image of the car was cut from one of the papers, and I inked all edges with Coffee Bean Brillance Ink and popped up the tiles spelling out DAD just so we all know who the card is for and I popped up the car too. Speaking of cars I am now (as I write this post) about to jump in mine and head away for a...

Geisha Girls Art Journal Spread Part 2

Earlier this month I shared a journal page which was the center spread for a Deconstructed Art Journal Swap I was participating in........today I am sharing the front of my created signature with you. Once more I am using one of the gorgeous Geisha Collage Images from Altered Pages, teamed with some left over G45 Papers from the Birdsong Collection.  I have used two different papers to cover the background and a couple more for accents, before adhering my chosen Geisha and then adding some black paint followed by some Metallic Rub On around the edges with my fingers.  I then sealed the surface using Gel Medium. The back page of my signature I kept fairly simple, given the pattern paper was busy and bold. Supplies used. Gel Medium G45 Birdsong Papers Geisha Girls and Geisha Collage Sheet Black Paint Metallic Rub On AlteredPages also has lovely Asian papers , click here to see them. And here's a look at all three pages in order.   ...

Spring Butterflies

Hi Everyone!  Danie here with you today.........one of my favorite collage sheets from Altered Pages which I use often is called Beautiful Butterflies .  I just love butterflies they are such an inspiration in life and share so many beautiful messages.  One such message is that of transformation which is a message often shared by the Season of Spring so today I thought I'd combine the two together and play about in my large Dylusions Journal .                           Butterflies in flight - a scan to give you a close up of my journal page I got messy creating the background across two pages which started with me having all my butterflies cut out from the collage sheet and have a quantity of circles in two different sizes punched out from some cheaper white paper.  As I progressed however I decided to create on only one page leaving the background on the other for another day. I started ...

Painted Love!

Hi Everyone!  Danie here!  Today I have been playing with a little paint on my Gelli Plate, this time to make my own love inspired backgrounds.  As some of you may know one of the things I love most is to make my own backgrounds/papers so I couldn't resist this with Valentine's Day just around the corner. Wanting a love themed paper I chose to work with a variety of punched hearts to use as masks with my plate. Having the shapes punched ready on hand I started with some red paint as my initial layer. Today I am working on my 8 x 10 Inch Gelli Plate.   For my first print layer I just used Red Punched Hearts ready to use For my second print layer I added a mix of Acrylic Paints in other red tones such as Red Gold, Red Violet and Magenta with a touch of white to the plate and roughly brayered these across the plate trying not to blend them totally together. Before taking my original red print to pick up the second print I proceeded to add my punch...

Christmas Table Decorations & Placecards!!!

More fun with my Activa products, our Fabulous December Partner!  Today I am playing with Art Plaster .  Using Art Plaster and a chocolate tree mold to create trees for my table decorations.  Please be sure to use kitchen utensils that are designating for craft use only (like bowls, spoons and measuring cups). LET's GET STARTED!!!! Found this mold for trees and thought the trees would make a great center piece on my Christmas table.   Note: this mold will now be for craft use only! I used plastic cups for measuring and a plastic spoon for mixing as they are throw away! Have everything at hand before you start. Using Art Plaster you have a few minutes to work with it, but don't take too long as it starts setting.   You may need to drag the Art Plaster with a tooth pick as you pour it if there are corners to fill. Have extra molds around when pouring incase you ...
