Floral trinket box

With all the awesome flowers available at Altered Pages, I had no problem finding something in my stash to decorate. This is a simple little trinket box that would make a great gift or even just shelf decor. Supply List: Substrate - paper mache heart shaped box (from my stash) But you could use this too Paper flowers - These are from Little Bird and they can be used on ANYTHING! Scrapbook paper matte paint paper adhesive Embellishments I used some little stars from my stash but any of our embellishments would look great! Ribbon   Here are a few of the items I started with. First I want to trace the shape of the box on to the REVERSE side of the paper pattern I want to use.  I did have to trim it down a bit to remove the extra (if you don't want to measure, it's really not a big problem. I just eyeballed the thickness of the sides and trimmed that off all around) that way you have the initial shape of your item. I find that the paper mache...

Peace Love and "Rescue"

So, have you been hearing about  Cr ea ti va ti on 2017?  Well, Altered Pages was there!  This is the most exciting show in the arts and crafts industry and it happened this past weekend in beautiful Phoenix, AZ.   There was so much to look at and take in (which you hopefully have seen over the last few days here on our blog.)  Networking with other artists and crafters was such a joy.  This certainly is one fun group of folks and some names you might recognize like Tim Holtz, Cathie Fillian, Mark Montano, Carolyn Dube and Dyan Reaveley.   There was even a David Tutera spotting.   The show floor was huge and the festivities lasted for days, so this is just a fraction of what I saw, but I hope it gets you excited for what is in store in the coming months here at Alteredpages.com . It really is inspiring to be at the show.  Whether you are a mixed media artist, a painter, paper craft...

Pillow Box Play.

One of my favorite types of boxes is the ever versatile pillow box, which can made in a variety of sizes and hold a magnitude of things from Treats for Halloween to small gifts such as jewelry.  The other reason I love them is they are so quick and easy to make, you can find lots of templates for them online, and even the latest Graphic 45 Paper Pads have them on the backs of their covers which is where the one I am using today came from. Supplies Used: Graphic 45 & Glitz 8 x 8 Paper Collections (available from Altered Pages) Radiant Neon Inks (to ink the edges of my papers) Double Sided Tape Scissors Bone Folder The 8 x 8 Paper Collections from Graphic 45 and Glitz which you can find in the Altered Pages Store are the perfect papers to use for making them too, teamed with the decorative journal cards and pieces that you will also find in these collections. Start by selecting your papers and using the template trace and cut out the shapes.  Sc...

Scrapbooking with Dixie Belle Paint!

Who said Dixie Belle paints are only for furniture? I love pushing products and using them for unintended media!  So today I have taken my Dixie Belle Paints scrapbooking... I have a lot of pictures I took on a quick weekend trip with my mother, aunt & uncle a couple of years before my mother left us.  I have been creating an small keepsake album of 6x6 pages for my aunt & uncle!  This page is of a beautiful memorial we passed while walking through town.  On the bench is says '' Greater love hath no man than this.  That a man lay down his life for his country."  My page has stamping & painting, these techniques could also be used on cards! On this page I have a "focus shot" of the face of the statue.  Learn more about focus shots on my earlier post "A Little Birdie Told Me" HERE !
