"Would you like an adventure now?"

"Or would you like to have your tea first?"  (Peter Pan) I've started on decorations for an upcoming baby shower, and this baseball card box was the perfect thing for a tea chest. National Treasures 2009 The first step was a couple coats of Americana Chalk Paint (which of course I forgot to photograph, having too much fun painting, sorry about that!)  Chalk paint was perfect, because this box has a glossy finish, and honestly, if I can skip a step like sanding, that's all the better.  Next was a little Creme Wax to add a little antiquing and protect the paint: A collage image tea label adhered with matte gel medium , And the adventure/tea quote from Peter Pan, added to the inside: I like to think of it as a functional decoration.  That quote is also part of the baby shower invitations, so it really is perfect here.  Check back for more altered boxes all this month, and remember you can continue to submit ATCs for publication on the Altered...

MAY DAY Already?

Howdy to you and  to a beautiful month of May. My name is Jean and I am addicted to the colors of Spring! Hello dear friends and followers.    May Day is filled with flowers and the promise of summer breezes to come.   Everything is blooming, yes even in the desert.   May gives us, in the USA, Mother's day, Cinco de Mayo, and Memorial Day.  Many other international holidays take place in May as well, such as Orthodox Easter, Flag Day and Holocaust Memorial.   I am getting ready to change out the decor and felt a bit patriotic for Memorial Day. Spring is Happening!

HELLO LOVELY READERS ~ I AM SHARING CREATIVE SPRING THEMED WOOD BLOCK PROJECTS TODAY.    We had a class for Spring wood blocks this past week.  I was blown away by the creativity of the participants.   We provided the basic parts and pieces and let them have at it!   One of the girls is so afraid of creating and wound up with an awesome out of the box creation!  This is one of my projects ~ We began with raw wood blocks  3.5" x 4.5"  I also added a brand new copper penny and a yellow ceramic butterfly plus the glass knob.  More blocks, with a Shabby look The wood was painted in an array of Spring colors using  DecoArt / Americana paints . Some girls used sandpaper to soften the edges of the blocks after paint was applied.  This provided a lovely shabby effect. Die cut adhesive letters were prepared using our double side adhesive specialty paper.  Assorted precut papers were availabl...
