Buddah Love

What does a left over Sardine Tin from my cat's Dinner and Buddah have in common?  They make a great little shrine that I love. Shrines are of course all about honoring deities/people that you love.  Buddah is one of my favorite Deities, he features throughout my home.  Of course I got so engrossed in the making I forgot to take in progress pictures.  The Gold and Red Tones of the Tin were my starting point for this creation. I started by giving the outside of the tin a light sand with sandpaper and a coat of Gesso before adding some red paint. Next I took a nail punch and pierced two holes in the top side and one in the bottom for adding ribbons to hang my shrine with and also from the bottom I had a gold coin to add further interest. I used the Cherry Blossoms Background from the Oriental Backgrounds Collage Sheet to line the inside of the tin.  To the bottom I added some dew drops to replicate a rocky ground and add a bit of shimmer. Next I fou...

Geisha Girls Art Journal Spread Part 2

Earlier this month I shared a journal page which was the center spread for a Deconstructed Art Journal Swap I was participating in........today I am sharing the front of my created signature with you. Once more I am using one of the gorgeous Geisha Collage Images from Altered Pages, teamed with some left over G45 Papers from the Birdsong Collection.  I have used two different papers to cover the background and a couple more for accents, before adhering my chosen Geisha and then adding some black paint followed by some Metallic Rub On around the edges with my fingers.  I then sealed the surface using Gel Medium. The back page of my signature I kept fairly simple, given the pattern paper was busy and bold. Supplies used. Gel Medium G45 Birdsong Papers Geisha Girls and Geisha Collage Sheet Black Paint Metallic Rub On AlteredPages also has lovely Asian papers , click here to see them. And here's a look at all three pages in order.   ...

Teacups and Tiaras!

MailArt and Teacups and Tiaras is the theme we have all been playing along with this month whilst cross promoting with Unruly PaperArts . For my post today I was inspired by the orient and traditional tea ceremonies.  My postcard started with me cutting out two images from the Tea Party Collage Sheet AP-518. I also used some oriental text and an image from the Oriental Backgrounds Collage Sheet .  To add color to my background I used some Fire Brick Distress Stain and my cherry blossom border strips were punched out from some left over Gelli Prints.  To finish I added a lucky coin from my stash and some Havana Brown Seam Binding which is also available at Altered Pages. Will you be joining us next Tuesday for our Trending Tuesday Post? The team at Altered Pages were also kindly given some chipboard diecuts to play with for our projects his month from the Leaky Shed .  They have this fabulous Tea Cup & Saucer which I decided to paint Green for ...
