ImPACT & PRIZE TIME!!!

items used in the creation of this journal page: book paper paint pens, felt-tip and ball-point pens white glue, Miracle Tape, gesso Gelatos EcoGreen Acrylic Paint Maya Road Mists Andy Skinner Stencil Collage Page Phrenology AP-900 Happy Friday everyone!! It's the last Friday of the month and I wanted to quickly share the above journal page that I created for myself using a ton of AlteredPages goodies. The image on the bottom right serves as a small pocket to hold a letter I've written to myself about the impact of the ImPACT [a cognitive testing system used to determine if patients have suffered a concussion] on my life over the last 8 months. The journaling lists the symptoms and restrictions of our concussion patient. We lived through this not once but twice in the past 8 months--you could say it's had an impact. The phrenology collage page was perfect for this page as well as the transparency of the gelatos and the textures achieved with the mists ...

Mixed Media ATC to use up your scraps

Inspired by the recent trend in mixed media of altering embellishments with paints and mists to create a unified assemblage, I attempted this on a small scale with pieces of ephemera and left over embellishments from my AlteredPages.com stash. I stenciled artist spackle with the new Crafter's Companion Stencils and stamped into spackle with Mailbox Muse wings. I then layered pieces of torn book paper, canceled postage, German Scrap, trim, chipboard, mulberry flowers, and frayed fabric. I coated this layer with Gesso and after drying this layer, I misted Copper Maya Mist and homemade spritzes to form a base layer. After drying this, I adhered metal pieces, plastic shamrocks, paper embossed butterfly and fabric ribbon roses with E6000 and then once again applied gesso. I then applied a final layer of mists and heated the ATC to dry. I finally dry-brushed white gesso over the top of the entire card to highlight the textures of the assemblage elements. closeup of top of ...

SUNDAY BETWEEN THE LINES

DO YOU READ BETWEEN THE LINES? DO YOU HEAR THE EXTRA NOTE? DO YOU ADD YOUR OWN IMAGE TO WHAT YOU SEE? YOU ARE WHAT IS CALLED AN ARTIS T.   Jean here on Sunday.  I was journaling and looking for images to fit my mood.   While I am not necessarily a Fairy person, I was struck by the ethereal beauty of the  AP collage 514 Fairy Dreams .   Fairies tell us anything is possible and even probable!      The book is hand sewn using waxed threads and heavy weight watercolor paper.   A recycled hardback book cover is used as well.   The Fairies were cut from the collage and applied to fabric which I misted with the Maya Mists and then outlined with our Micron Pigma Brush Pen .   I used old torn sheet music on which I used an ink sweeper and Paris Trunk Walnut ink to help age the paper.   I really do like the soft effects Paris Trunk inks give, they can be dee...
