4th of July chalkboard buffet signs

Fine, yes, you already know we overdo Independence Day at our house, but at the risk of oversharing, here is yet another 4th of July party project.  These are practical AND fun, as they can serve as chalkboard buffet signs.  Plus, I had blue chalkboard paint in my stash, waiting to be used!  1.  Two coats of blue chalkboard paint on Foundations Décor Banner Circles.   2.  Red cardstock circles, cut to fit, with a little distressing and inking to the edges.  A ring of white eyelet added to the NOT painted side of the wooden circle, along with a red painted wooden skewer. Tacky Glue is perfect for this.  3.  Patriotic collage images, cut to (almost) fit inside the red cardstock circle, inked with some Mix'd Media Salazar Inx.   I attached the images with a  glue stick . Added a few Tacky Glued buttons for embellishment!  4.  Attach the red circle to the back of the mini chalkboard, making a l...

All-American with Foundations Decor!

Well it's getting hot in the USA or at least here in Arizona!    We here, at Altered Pages, have partnered with Foundations Décor for the month of June. Here is a little (ha-ha) project!  Actually it's a fairly large piece but easy to put together and super fun to decorate! Just in time for your 4th of July celebrations     Supplies:   Foundations Décor USA kit Bazzil Borders Acrylic Paint Paper Stickles Embellishments   glue                 A beginning selection of products     I started this one by covering one side with scrapbook paper ( found here ) and then I used an acrylic paint wash over wood, let that sit for a minute and wipe off with wet rag or baby wipes. Gives a nice "stained" appearance (see other pieces below, done with acrylic wash / watered down acrylic)      This is done in a red wash (k...

Independence Angel

Greetings!  I'm going to let you in on a little secret. (Or maybe not so secret?)  Design team members get creative block just like everyone else.  I fought and fought with my Muse this week trying to finish a project to share with you today.  I started with a coat of gesso on a Gypsy Soul Laser Cut articulated doll and then set her aside wondering what to do with her.  Eventually I decided to paint half of her Caucasian and half African-American...and then I stalled.  So I grabbed a Gypsy Soul hot air balloon and painted the balloon part red and used blue ink on the basket...and then I stalled.  I painted some Gypsy Soul gears with gold paint...and then I stalled. Okay, so now I have parts and pieces all over my desk and the deadline is getting closer and closer.  What to do?  I finally decided to make a card and went through several patterns of scrapbook paper.  Still not happy.  Wow, it was bad.  Then it h...

Celebrate Independence Day

Hello everyone.  I hope you are all looking forward to your July 4th holiday celebrations this weekend.  In honor of our country's independence, I have made a card using one of the new collage sheets from  Altered Pages . Start with these supplies.  Trim  navy card stock  to 4" x 5-1/4" and layer onto  kraft card. Ink the  white mini edge  with light brown ink and the  Ranger Blending Tool .  Adhere to right edge of card. Cut out a frame shape from  Collage Backgrounds Red  sheet and adhere over the image from the  Altered Pages Patriotic People 2392 collage sheet .  Add a strip of  gold sticker  around the inside of the frame. Use the  Double-sided tape mini  to adhere a piece of scrap chipboard to the back, distress the edges with brown ink and the blending tool.  Adhere to card front. Stamp "Celebrate" onto scrap white card with Navy ink, punch out with label punch, a...
