"Don't let the stars get in your eyes . . ."  Are you familiar with that song?  Well, since "Love Makes the World Go 'Round" this month at Altered Pages,  I was perusing Love themed projects of Valentines past, and this altered tin caught my eye: "Don't let the stars get in your eyes, don't let the moon break your heart" This six-ish inch tin originally held baseball cards--I think it's prettier with the bouquet of velvet leaves and paper flowers . "Love blooms at night, in daylight it dies, don't let the stars get in your eyes"  The sides are covered with patterned papers . . . . you know you're the only one I'll ever love! The base is a vintage wooden thread spool.  Good grief, there's a LOT of embellishment on this one--tulle, netting, feathers, seam binding , tiny pom pom trim , gold star confetti, and a German scrap moon.   Check back all this month for more love-ly art.  ...

My diorama mood has carried over into the Holiday Season. I've assembled a few items, sprinkled with golden sweetness, and adhered with love!! Here are the items needed: Wood frame    ATC Tin    Gold Embossing powder    Glitter     Vintage Image     Medium    Chalk paint    Ribbon    Dew Drops    Sisal tree    Bazzill paper trim    Stickles        I painted the tin with the chalk paint and set aside to dry. The frame was embossed for a gold leaf effect. The inside of the tin was glittered entirely. Cut out your image and use some medium for dimension. I took the Bazzill edges and painted and glittered. Assembled and adhered all inside the tin. Ribbon on the outside and on the bottom of the tin. Then adhered the tin to the frame and added a ribbon. I have to make...

Wooo Hooo!!!   Happy Halloween!!!!   Well, if you've stuck with it you'll know this is the culmination of the Smeared & Smudged 31 Days of Halloween.  We've had an entire month full of spooks, haunts and scary goodness and to finish it off I'd like to share my Box of Bones   But it doesn't really have bones in it... Just a whole lot of corny Halloween joke cards!     Initially I sanded the candy tin then covered it with a layer of black ink. I sanded a bit more so some of the red/gold would show through.   I then set about adding gobs of gesso to the lid ~ next I pushed in "bits" of a plastic skeleton I had previously cut apart submerging the pieces about half way.  I let the gesso dry overnight.   The next day I painted the gesso and bones with another layer of black acrylic paint.  Once that layer had dried I rubbed a bit of metallic acrylic paint over the bones to really make them pop.  ...

Everyone still Halloween Hopping? ( Linkys are up in the right hand corner.)  So I started making a big hunkin' project, using (what else?) Altered Pages collage images, plus some pretty awesome Smeared digis, but  . . .  ended up with two smaller pieces instead.  First, Bettie and Bertram are still in hell, this time with a Dante's Inferno twist (Mr. Gargoyle is AP): All about the candy, oh yes! What do you think?  Is the blood on the toothbrush too much? Bertram and Bettie, still aflame.   (The wonderfully detailed pedestal/column is from S&S.) And second, an altered tin: Smeared digi  But not just ANY altered tin.  This one is a Halloween  PLAY SET! Mustachioed and behatted, ready to fly-- AP has a great selection of wings, btw-- MWAAA, big kiss, sweetie! Because, after all, ghouls just wanna have fun. Happy Tuesday! Ink Stained Roni here...today my blog Ink Stains is celebrating it's 5th anniversary.  To celebrate I am having an Altered Altoids Tin Blog Hop / On-Line Art Festival ! It just so happens that today is my day to post here on Altered Pages as well so I thought it would be fun to share a project combing the two.  And that project is.... Magnetic Paper Dolls!   I covered the outside of the tin with some girlie vintage pattern papers....   and I also added some to the inside as well.   I then printed the little girls & dresses from Altered Pages collage sheet - More Paper Dolls  so they would fit into the tin.  Approx. 50% of the original.   Next I ran the images through my Xyron and glued it to a magnetic sheet.  Cut the images out and you're set to go!   This would make a super little stocking stuffer or great to take along on a car trip or vacation.  The basic in...

Hi all! Becky here today...Today I wanted to share a couple of projects I had done with some of the Altered Pages images BEFORE I became a DT member! Long time fan & all that! LOL! This is a little altered Altoid tin, but Jean carries the ATC tins in the shop & they are great because you don't have to undo the hinge in order to alter them!! I used lots of my own embellishments & scraps with collage sheets: Vintage Sewing is one, but I can't locate the one with the girl, but I did use a background from HERE on the right! The dress form on the front is a wonderful stamp you can find HERE . Next, I entered this one for an End of Summer challenge at the AP Yahoo group using an image from the At The Beach 1907 sheet (I LOVE this image & have used it a lot on cards for teachers at the end of the school year!). Today I am sharing an altered monogrammed tin I made using AP1031--Ornate Alphabet --and Sakura Hobby Crafts 3D Crystal Lacquer and Terri Sproul's Mixers. I began by painting the tin with lacquer and mixers. I printed my ornate alphabet on pink paper to start. It is a black outline alphabet and can be printed on any color paper to create a base color for your letters. Next I painted my letters with lacquer and a very small amount mixers so that it is a transparent "wash."  I used several different colors of lacquer--pink, gold, copper penny. After they dried. I trimmed them out closely. I used the lacquer to attach the letter to the lid and then poured a puddle of lacquer to collect on the lid and to provide a shellac-like cover. After it dried I added crystal bling around the lid of the tin. These monogrammed tins can make great gifts for any one at any age!   Thank you for looking~ leslierahye
