A little mixed media

This week I have been playing around with color.  Fall is inching closer and Michigan will be a flood of reds and golds in a few short weeks.  I love Fall colors and that's what I've used on this canvas. I started with a layer of gesso.   Right after the layer was complete, I dipped my brick stencil into the wet gesso to leave an impression. To better show the texture of the dried gesso, I smeared on a few light spots of Gelato to highlight the ridges. The entire canvas was covered with Dixie Belle's Grunge Glaze.  Since I was going with a Fall theme I felt like the brown in the glaze would be a good fit. The glaze interacted with the Gelato and gave me some different undertones.  Gelatos are water soluable so they are activated with paint just as easily as with water. I chose a few more Gelatos that reminded me of fall and used my finger to apply them in random spots on the canvas. Now to add some fun texture!...

Fun Fall leaves with Foundations Decor

Hello again! How about all this crazy weather? I am sending out prayers to all those affected and yet to be affected by these horrible storms. I hope this post finds everyone safe and sound. This week, I decorated this sweet little set of Fall leaves and an acorn, from Foundations Decor. Here is how:   SUPPLIES: Foundations Décor - Falling Woods Leaves Acrylic paint Paper Ephemera or collage components Adhesive Craft knife Paint brush (disposable foam brush) My supplies at the ready! I have all sorts. Fall theme papers, quotes and ephemera. First, I glued the papers I chose, to the wood pieces. I did my layout first with the bare pieces to see how I wanted everything to sit. Since I wanted the words to be readable, this piece was glued at an angle so that when it was set into place, the lines of text are visible. I fussy cut around the edges of the piece with a craft knife. I laid the paper on the table, glued wood piece to it, wait...

My Favorite Place in Fall

It's Jean here and I'm feeling a bit nostalgic knowing that Fall is coming. Even though it's still hot in Arizona we can feel the changes coming.  The sun is shifting in the sky and the mornings are just a bit cooler . Truth be told, it is difficult to find a place more beautiful in Fall than Pennsylvania.  The lush rolling hills become carpets of gold, red and amber mixed into green and brown backgrounds.   Crunching leaves are underfoot, apple cider is served, the sky becomes crystal blue with a bright sun. Not only the colors, but the textures of fall are lovely.   Hay bales, burlap and corn husks lay a backdrop for decor.        I created a piece for today's post that reminds me of Fall days in Pennsylvania, my home state.    I used our fabulous adhesive sheets on which I printed AP collage #1951 Fall Splendor using an inkjet printer.   For one example I used the Adhesive Transparency Sheet and on another...
