Independence Angel

Greetings!  I'm going to let you in on a little secret. (Or maybe not so secret?)  Design team members get creative block just like everyone else.  I fought and fought with my Muse this week trying to finish a project to share with you today.  I started with a coat of gesso on a Gypsy Soul Laser Cut articulated doll and then set her aside wondering what to do with her.  Eventually I decided to paint half of her Caucasian and half African-American...and then I stalled.  So I grabbed a Gypsy Soul hot air balloon and painted the balloon part red and used blue ink on the basket...and then I stalled.  I painted some Gypsy Soul gears with gold paint...and then I stalled. Okay, so now I have parts and pieces all over my desk and the deadline is getting closer and closer.  What to do?  I finally decided to make a card and went through several patterns of scrapbook paper.  Still not happy.  Wow, it was bad.  Then it h...

Card & ATC set

Happy Friday, artists!  So glad you could stop by today.  I have a greeting card & artist trading card (ATC) set to share with you.  I saw these two birdcages from Gypsy Soul Laser Cuts and built the card around them.  I searched my 6x6 paper pads and found these designs in the Authentique Devoted pad. All of the designs in this set are pet oriented and there is one with mini birdcages.  Perfect! I made a large invitation size card, which is 4.5 x 6.25.  This size ensures that  a lot of the floral background will still show even with the panels on top. I found a beautiful dusky pink paper in my collection that matched the scrapbook paper to showcase the painted birdcage.  I used it for the card body and small panel, but sometimes pale colors need a little help to make them stand out.  In this case, I used gold corner stickers and Dew Drops.  Altered Pages has several choices for each of these embellishments.  I use...

A love a little Serendipity

There are some techniques that are really popular and then fade away to be replaced by the newest craze.  I first made Serendipity cards back in 2006.  They were everywhere back then, but I haven't seen any lately.  This technique is fabulous for using up scraps and odd bits that are on your desktop.  You use coordinating colors or be totally random.  The look will be different each time. For today's card, I chose to use only colors that complimented the Sabor Papel designs.  I chose Sabor because the designs go so well with my adorable Rubber Stamp Depot "Padre" stamp.  I added a couple of their die cuts, some colorful tickets and pieces of ribbon .  All of these were glued top and bottom with gel medium .  It dries to a matte finish and is great for collaging. It looks like a bit of a mish mash, doesn't it?  The magic happens when you start cutting this into squares.  It's always a bit of a surprise what you're go...

A little vintage romance

Winter is in full swing here and as the joyful December holiday decorations are coming down it's time to look ahead.  Valentine's Day is right around the corner and love is in the air here at Altered Pages !  Today I have a card to share that will be sure to please your honey. The color scheme makes this card suitable for a man or a woman and is super easy to make.  Start with the Young Lovers collage and punch or cut out the kissing couple into a circle shape.  I have a scalloped die set, but concentric circles would be just as pretty for the matting.  Ink the edges of your picture to soften the edges a little. The card elements were made from three sheets of the Graphic 45 Artisan Style paper pad.  These papers are two sided and contain the same two colors on each sheet so they coordinate perfectly with one another.  A heart was cut out of the main panel, allowing the bottom layer of cardstock to show through.  (And...

Autumn Splendour Tour

I've always wanted to take the train somewhere.  Anywhere, really.  I just love the thought of looking out the windows and watching the countryside go by.  Since I live in Michigan, the ultimate for me would be to take the fall color tour.  Yep, that's definitely on my bucket list!  Here's a quick card I made to celebrate the wonderful colors of fall using an absolutely beautiful collage sheet from Altered Pages .      The instant photo frame here happens to be a stamp from my collection, but you can make a die cut frame quite easily.  Or better yet, take an old blurry instant photo and pop the original picture out and use the frame! Products used: Colors in New England collage sheet Train Travel Days collage sheet Fall Splendor collage sheet Mailbox Muse Orient Express train stamp And a bonus project!  I made this card for my husband, who is a big car guy!  I used images from the Route 66 collage sheet . ...

Paris in the Fall

I'm taking a little liberty with the fall theme this month.  I hope you'll indulge me.  The "fall" in this card is really just in the color scheme.  This quick card was made using Glitz papers, a Glitz sticker and three Altered Pages stamps from the All Things French Mailbox Muse kit . I matched my brown ink as closely as possible to the Glitz sticker and ran the ink pad around the edges of the black striped background and stamped both "Paris" and "La Tour Eiffel" in the same color.  I cut out a swirl from the same paper as the card itself so that it would match exactly and layered the whole thing together. It was embellished with a flower and two giant rhinestone stickers.  Quick and easy for sure!    Products Used: Glitz paper - French Kiss Glitz paper - Laced With Grace Glitz stickers - Love Games Glitz stickers - Yours Truly giant rhinestones Bazzill paper flowers Mailbox Muse stamps - All Things French

Day Two of Vintage Blue Pocket Altered Pages

Welcome back.  I am continuing on with my Vintage Blue Pocket Altered Page.  I hope you all got the chance to see Day One of this post, which was on the blog yesterday.   Here is a link to day one in case you missed it.  Day one is where I gathered all of my goodies and prepared everything for my Vintage Blue Altered Pocket Page.  Today you will see everything assembled and put into my pocket page.  Also, please check out the info at the end of this post on how to join our Altered Pocket Pages swap later this month.   I mentioned yesterday how much I love this paper pack from Glitz.  It is beautifully vintage, but it is also masculine and with Father's Day coming up I thought one of the pin stripe pieces would be the great beginning of a "Thank you for all you do" to Dad or Granddad.  In my previous post I showed you preparing the pocket cards, basically creating ATC sized cards.  I also fussy cut collage images, d...
