For the Guy in Your Life

Hi there & th anks for stopping by! Today, I have for you a Christmas card that would be great for the guy in your life.   It is a bit masculine, but not so much that you really could give it to anyone.  I used a great little VW Bus image as my focal point. I also used beautiful chipboard snowflakes in this card design.  If you have been keeping up with the design team this month you know that we have had a theme of lace.   I thought that these looked a bit lacey, but were not too feminine.   You can find links to everything I used at the bottom of this post.  So, let's jump right into the process;  Here, I am getting ideas for the layout after tearing out my two collage images... Getting that first coat of glitter paint on my chipboard snowflakes... I chose to only add a bit of sparkle to my snowflakes.   I wanted to keep the brown, woodsy undertone intact.  Inking all of the edges... ...

Christmas Elf Card and Matching Christmas Tag

Hello everyone!  I just returned from a wonderful Caribbean cruise and suddenly realized how close the holidays are.  So, for my first post this month with Altered Pages, I want to share a really cute and fun Christmas card and matching gift tag using  this adorable  Christmas elf   digital image from  our sponsor,  Smeared Ink . I first sized the image to fit four onto one sheet of 8-1/2" x 11" smooth white card stock. Then I used my Royal Brush  Drawing Art Set  to color in the image.  I mixed colors until I was able to match those on the  green snowflakes  paper.  (TIP: You can blend the pencil easily with Gamsol, or any other odorless mineral spirits and a blending stump.) Next, I used a curved rectangle die (or any die you may have) to cut out the image.  Then I edged the card stock with Memento Luxe Peanut Brittle and Rhubarb Stalk ink, blending towards the center with a blending tool. Here is a pictu...

A Merry and Bright Christmas Card

Hello everyone!  So glad you stopped by.  I have one more Christmas card to share with you today.  I used a couple of beautiful stamps from Just for Fun , along with great products from Altered Pages , and I absolutely love how this turned out. Stamp  Holly Background  with Olive ink onto white card stock  Color with watercolor markers in green and blue.  Add Love Letter Pico Embellisher to each berry and set aside to dry.  Stamp   Large Cardinal  and just the wing onto white card stock with  Black StazOn  and color with Copic markers. Mix a sliver of  Butterscotch and Chocolate gelatos  into an  Ultra Fine Mist Sprayer  and shake well.  I have no recipe, I just added enough to get to the color intensity I wanted, which does not take very much. Spritz over holly background to give it a bit more vintage look, and tone down the white background.  (NOTE:  Because I used water b...

A Joyeaux Noel & Just for Fun

Hello everyone.  This month, we have another wonderful sponsor here at Altered Pages .  This time, it is with Just for Fun Rubber Stamps .  They have been around for quite awhile, and I have been collecting and using their stamps for years.  I love making Christmas cards with my rubber stamps, and this one is a combination of stamping and collage.  Print out  Collage Backgrounds I collage sheet  and cut out solid background image.  Ink up the  Holly Background  stamp with Forest Moss and stamp over the background.  Trim background to measure 3-3/4" x 4-3/4", distressing and inking edges with brown ink. Add red Pico Embellisher to holly berries.  Let dry. Cut beige card stock to 6"x12", fold in half to make  top-folded card.  Layer Glitz red print paper (5-3/4" x 5-3/4"), then Glitz solid brown (4"x5") with distressed and inked edges, then holly stamped background paper, also distressed and inked. Print ...
