    We're just about at the end of January and our month-long partnership with Deco Arts media products.  My post today is just me playing with some embellishments.  First, a vintage image from one of the Young Lovers Valentine collages .   I wanted to use this plain chipboard frame and white cardstock and I didn't have anything in my collection already the right color.  The frame and back panel were painted with Deco Art Flesh Tone acrylic paint to match the collage art.   I'm no stranger to altering embellishments.  I use painted and inked paper flowers and chipboard all the time.  Today I thought you might like to see some of the other items that I have painted using my Deco Art acrylic paints. Brads and swords - plain and painted, side by side. So go out and play with your paint.  It doesn't always have to be a journal or canvas!  Just have fun.  I hope you'll come back again...

First, let me tell you, PRINT PARTY--when you need a stack of backgrounds, there's nothing better than pulling a bunch of monotype prints from a Gelli plate , and the 5x7 size is perfect for card making  For these, I used a mix of DecoArt paints, mostly from the Americana line, a little spritzing from DecoArt media misters, and I'll be adding some glittery touches using Glamour Dust paints, as well.   I had the opportunity to go to the CHA Mega Show in Anaheim earlier this week!  I met a lot of people that I have known virtually for several years. One of the individuals I met was Mark Montano at a DecoArt make-n-take!       Mark Montano and Pla Schneider at DecoArt make-n-take!     Working on a make-n-take bracelet with Mark Montano   at DecoArt !   Supplies: Wooden Bracelet, Wax, Sand paper,  DecoArt Chalk Paints: Legacy, Relic and Whisper.     First paint Legacy on the wooden bracelet, let dry.  Wax over the Legacy. Paint second color, Relic and let dry.  Sand it down showing some of the first layer. Wax over the sanded paint.  Paint the third color Whisper, let it dry.  Sand it again showing.  Now for the magic.  BUFF the bracelet with a paper towel using a lot of pressure.... the beauty of the paints will show!   ~~~~...

Hello everyone, and Happy New Year.  This is my first post of the year with Altered Pages , and we have a fabulous sponsor, DecoArt .  I am so thrilled to get to play with their products this month. I I just want to say that the DecoArt products I used in this project were of very high quality.  I was pleasantly surprised at the matte medium.  It was very easy to use and quite invisible.  The gesso was very thick and a little went a long way.  The crackle paste, well, what can I say.  It made the most fabulous cracks without any effort on my part, and I have had my share of problems with other crackle paints and pastes. ...

  We have had some wonderful prize drawings here on the Altered Pages Artsociates blog, haven't we?  Back on December 3rd I was the lucky winner of Tracy Verdugo's book Paint Mojo.  I was thrilled!  And look, Tracy even signed it for me!  What did I have to do to win?  Simple...I just commented on a post!    Today I'm sharing four cards I made with the creative prompt in the first exercise in the book.  The first Paint Mojo exercise deals with symbols.  Have you noticed any recurring themes in your art?  For me it's plaid.  My cousin calls me The Plaid Girl because when I first started making cards most of them had plaid scrapbook paper for backgrounds.  I wear plaid, too.  It could be the Irish ancestry!  I decided to make that my symbol for this project.   Altered Pages is partnering with Deco Art this month.   Hearing that set my heart aflutter!  I have only been work...

  I have had lots of fun using Craft Attitude printable film this month and I have one final project to share with you.... I transformed a pair of vintage ice skates into a fun piece of art that you could use to decorate your home, give as a hostess gift or as a fun personalized present for anyone on your gift giving list!   The best part...you can decorate both sides differently.  I went with a Victorian Christmas on one side and an Ivory Angel on the other for a generic Winter feel so that it can be displayed for several weeks this holiday season.
