Tribute to Nature Tryptich

Jen Rothstein here for AlteredPages.com Today I have a short and sweet project. A Nature themed project, in our color of the month, GREEN!! I am making this project for a "secret someone" and I had a very specific idea in mind. I hope you will forgive me this time, for personalizing.  I wanted to share it with you anyway, as it mostly in green and the techniques I am using will work with so many of the available AP products that you could make several of these in varied themes and colors. They make great gifts, just sayin' I start with 3 small canvases , but you could use any sturdy substrate or just one big canvas . Here I have chosen a nature themed paper and aligned all 3 canvases. I glue paper to the canvas. This one is from my stash but here are some other great papers that would work perfectly for this type of project. After the glue has dried, I cut them apart and trim off any excess. Now I add all my collage elements.  T...

Fun with The Mailbox Muse and new products!

Hi and Happy Friday! This month the Altered Pages Design Team is creating projects using stamps from all of the amazing Malibox Muse Kits from over the years.  This should be a lot of fun seeing what everyone comes up with...no theme, no prompts, just beautiful deeply etched red rubber stamps as our Muse! For my project I am using the  Alphapalooza stamp.   I am also using a new product at Altered Pages,  the Gelatos Metalic Lux set.   There are a number of new Gelato sets to choose from.  They all look amazing and they come with so many goodies.  The set that I chose has metallic Gelatos, Texture Lux in four colors, stencils, metallic printed paper (I am using one here), canvas paper, cork paper, palette paper, palette knife - I mean you get the idea.  It even includes an idea guide with step by step instructions for some techniques.   Now, for the details. Here is the beginnin...

New Year Card with Dimension

Happy Holidays, friends!  I hope everyone had a very Merry Christmas!   I want to share a mixed media card with you today using molded embellishments made with   PermaStone Casting Compound  from  Activa®  .  This product is quite versatile and very easy to use. I mixed the PermaStone casting compound per the package directions and poured it into my roses and frame molds. I got busy making multiple pieces because I was having so much fun.  The PermaStone dries pretty quickly, in about 20-30 minutes.   When completely dry, I removed from the mold and gave each piece a coat of  glaze medium . Next, I coated each piece with Timeless  DecoArt Chalk Paint . I painted three roses with Red Velvet  Art Anthology Sorbet paint .  This paint is dimensional and thick, and has a beautiful glitter in it.  It even has a translucency to it if painted on thinly.   I added water to a blob of...
