Just Begin!

We've all learned to appreciate a job well done, but before that can happen you have to get a good start!   This is true whether it's a job or a hobby.  You might be amazing at something, but you won't know until you begin.   Today's project started with a monoprint on my gel plate.  I like to collect interesting patterned items to use with my prints.  The shapes in this print are from an empty adding machine tape roll and the wheel from an empty tape runner. My print was made on a scrap of blue card stock with blues, greens and red paint.  We're all about red this month so I sponged in some red ink on the page and left some random areas untouched so that the other colors would pop out. The addition of the permanent ink really altered the paint colors.  I added a little darker red around the edges after the paper was trimmed to size, in this case it's an A6 card panel.  I also dipped the edges into the dark ink so the blue paper...

Mixed Media Necklace

Happy February Everyone!  This month we are celebrating the color Red and how powerful a color it is...I mean it is the color of L.O.V.E, right? Pretty powerful.  So, check back with us all month long and see what we come up with using red in our works.  I have for you a mixed media Steampunk inspired necklace featuring reds and pinks.   There is a supply list below directing you to everything you need to make one of your own, with variations as well.  I began with a DIY bezel style pendant.  I was so excited to begin that I forgot to snap a before pic of the blank bezel.  You can see what they look like  here.   Next, a collage image was added using  PPA Glue. Love to Travel

"Love Makes the World go Round" with travel.  Traveling is one of my favorites things to do... I dream of the places I would love to visit next! Supplies: Manila Tag Paints Punchinella Brown mist Metallic Rub Gilding Foil DUO Altered Pages Collage Sheet Vintage Travel Bazzill Mini Edges Chipboard gears Tacky Glue Ink brown & gold Twine Black ink pen Glue Stick Dimensional Foam On Manila Tag  apply Paints using Punchinella , let dry.   Mist dry tag with Brown mist , then let dry. Apply Metallic Rub  randomly on the tag. Adhere Gilding Foil  with DUO  to the tag.  Add a Bazzill Mini Edge  to the bottom of the tag with Tacky Glue .   Type the words " LOVE to Travel" on the computer.  Draw lines around with black ink.  Use Metallic Rub  to age. Art Deco Journal Page

I was so excited to hear that Altered Pages and Lost Coast Designs are partnering this month.  They have fabulous stamps!!! This is my finished journal page using the fabulous Lost Coast Designs stamp 'Art Deco Face'.  I could not be happier with the results of my page!   Products used : Journal book   Lost Coast Designs  stamp Recycled white tissue paper  Coloured  inks or  markers White pen (from my stash )  black pen   Scraps of recycled wallpaper and paper Copper paint   Steampunk gears Tacky glue   Glue stick   Begin by stamping the gorgeous image of the 'Art Deco Face' on to white tissue paper, it stamped perfectly first time.   You can see the fine detail of the image on the tissue.   Let the ink dry on the tissue before adhering to the page.
