Packing Tape Postcards

Today I wanted to play with the technique of image transfers using packing tape in my Dylusions journal......I had a blue page spread I had created some time ago using my gelatos, paint and stencils and it was time to add further to this page. I decided to use some images both from an Altered Pages Collage Sheet and some of my own photos from the beach for it.  I then had the idea of creating some aged looking postcards as if on holiday at the beach. I started by creating my postcard backgrounds.   I started with a blue gelato and a little gesso. I simply scribbled the blue gelato over my background pieces.  I then painted over my scribble with a wet brush.  A small amount of Gesso was then brayered across the wet gelato. Removing the spray nozzle from the Dylusions Spray Ink I sprinkled a little bit of color over the background and brayered. Then it came time to work with my images. I picked out an image from the Girl...

I want to go where the Wild Things Are!

Hi everyone it's Danie here today, sharing some play time in my journal and teaming up with Sin City Stamps. This month we are sharing projects that include those wild and enchanted little folk known as fairies.   I've been hoping to meet a fairy most of my life and although I tried to stay up as a youngster to catch a glimpse of the Tooth Fairy and searched and searched all around the garden I have never seen one. Hence why I want to go where the Wild Things are, as I am sure if they are going to be found anywhere it would be there. So with this thought I grabbed out my Large Dylusions Journal to play and experiment with my new Pan Pastels.  All the color on this page is Pan Pastels, for the added definition and details I have used the magical technique known as Popping Pastels which is where you stamp or add detail (in this case draw) with a clear medium such as Versamark Ink and then rub color over the top to reveal the image/design.  You can see I have used...

Let your dreams take Flight Journal Page

Hi Everyone it's Danie here with you all today!  As you know this month we are cross promoting with the Leaky Shed . When I saw the cute chipboard kites from the Leaky Shed that arrived for us to use this month, I knew I wanted to use them in my journal and came up with the following journal page - Let your Dreams Take Flight. Using my large Dylusions Journal I began by prepping my page with Gesso and then simply spritzed some Dylusions Ink in spots across the back before adding some torn paper from the Glitz Uncharted Waters Paper Collection.  Other layers of pattern and color were added with various blue tones of Gelatos and Stencils (Honeycomb 12 x 12 and Tile Texture 6 x 6) from the Crafter's Workshop. I then got out my Dylusions Around the Edge Border Stamps and my Midnight Blue Staz On Ink Midi and stamped around the edges with the scallop border stamp and randomly across the background with the circle strip.  Some of these stamped areas I then ad...

Dragonfly Dreams

Hi everyone! It's me  Tonya ! First off let me tell you I'm super excited to be a part of Altered Pages/Mailbox Muse design team. The thought of having hundreds of vintage images to create with simply makes me giddy. :-)   I want to share my first project I created using inks and markers from this month's partner,  IMAGE Crafts   and products from  Altered Pages .  If any of you know anything about me you know I love to alter things and use stuff that would normally be thrown away in a lot of my projects.  I started out with the empty packaging from one of those XLG Sizzix die cuts  and cut it down so I could run it through the diecut machine to cut the page out. Next, I embossed both ends with a small Polk a dot embossing folder. Then I inked the embossed surface and some of the edges with the following Emerald City, Blue Hawaii and Gothic Purple StazOn Inks.  Once the ink dried I dug into my own stash of scraps of paper...

Slipping Through My Fingers...

It seems like just yesterday my daughter was born and now, just a short time later, she is turning 7 today. Where did the time go? I started this mixed media page with her in mind. The colors are representative of the two of us and just happened to tie in with the collage page  1662D A Visit to the Dollhouse. In addition to the above collage page I used Punchinella , Crafters Workshop Stencil , Maya Road Pearl Mist from the AlteredPages.com store. Additional supplies included Watercolor Paper, Acrylic Paint, Distress Inkpad and Reinker, Want2Scrap Bling and Buttons Galore Buttons. Lyrics to the ABBA song Slipping Through My Fingers  are printed on tissue and Mod Podged to the page allowing the textures of the background stenciling to show through. Happy Birthday Fancy Pants! I hope you enjoy my Mixed Media Page! Thank you for looking~ leslierahye

More Gelli Plate Fun

Hi Everyone!  Danie here today and like Becky yesterday I too have been playing with my Gelli Plate. Whether your project is big or small the Gelli Plate can cater for them all.  You can Paint, Stamp, Stencil and Draw your way to fabulously fun and totally random backgrounds and prints. You can press stamps into the paint to remove the paint and leave the image.  Or press the painted stamp onto the plate to create additional layers. Layering a second print/color over your first stamped layer adds color to define the stamped image, you can add further color with stencils which work similar to stamps by removing paint to give you outlines, or painting over them to add blocks of color in the patterned design to your plate.  These prints are great for journal page backgrounds. Some stamps may even surprise you in just what look they will give you. Take the above print for instance the white lines were created from a flower stamp which had three...
