Christmas ATC's with Scraps

I've was having a bit of a clean up of my work desk and started putting together a pile of off cuts, bits and pieces left over from previous projects.  You can see here I have been playing with blue tones and angels for my previous Christmas Projects.  I have to admit these are my favourite at Christmas.  There were collage images already cut out, stamped sentiments and embellishments along with a few scrap papers and cardstock.  So I decided to work with these items and turn them into a few quick Christmas ATC's.   I started with some cardstock bases and my Gelatos.  Three tones of blue were simply scribbled over the background.   I then took a baby wipe and blended the color across the card.     Next I took a small stamp of a star like image and some Navy Archival Ink and randomly stamped this across my background.   Taking some of the paper scraps and off cuts I layered these onto my card base.   ...

Bits & Bobs for the Holidays!

Christmas is only 36 days away! OMG!   Can you believe it! As usual, I am behind! The project I am sharing today is just one of MANY I have in mind before the big day! For these little Spool Angels, I used various bits & bobs from Altered Pages & my extensive stash of such things. Inspired by Pinterest I covered the large spool with some Glitz Joyeux Noel paper & then hammered in nails onto the top edge. Then I added beads & charms to some chain that hangs from the nails. Then I cut out the Angel from the Ivory Angels collage sheet & adhered her to a broken pencil I hot glued into the center of the spool. There's a Religious Saint Medal in there too! For this angel, I painted the spool white & then covered it with the Music Washi Tape before embellishing it with tinsel trim & a vintage rhinestone button. I used some French book pages to give this girl wings. the last Angel sits atop a different spool with tinsel trim...

A Bit of Serendipity for Christmas

Hi Everyone!  It's Danie here today sharing a couple of Christmas Cards with you using my new favorite Collage Sheet Ivory Angels  - AP 2090 and a favorite Serendipity Technique to create my Backgrounds.  This technique is great for using up your paper scraps and one I use a lot for my canvases. Both of these cards today are  again using up my leftovers from the Graphic 45 Christmas Emporium Papers and the Sentiment is from the Even More Christmas Images Collage Sheet  - AP1027. My background for this card combines my paper scraps, gesso and paint which has been applied using a piece of bubble wrap.  I have then added some further panels of my Graphic 45 Papers to highlight my background colors, My Ivory Angel, Sentiment and a bit of bling to finish. My second card follows the same steps as the first card, however I have then stamped and embossed some snowflakes in black and white over the top for further texture and dimension.  Each tim...

An Angel Calling...another journal page & technique

Hi all! Becky here today to share another journal page with you & a rather happy accident-technique I came up with... I started by applying Heavy Body Acrylic paint in Titan Buff; & adhering along the side strips of handmade paper with music notes (found at a local art supply, before realizing the Tim Holtz tissue tape would have worked too!). Then I knew I wanted to use some modeling paste with a scroll stamp along the other edge...so I grabbed my bottle & started spreading it on before I realized that it was CRACKLE PASTE ! Oh well, just go with it...There are no mistakes in art, right?!  Well, the effect was AWESOME so I just kept adding my layers! before & after paint When the paste was dry, I applied a wash of Antelope Brown Acrylic Ink, blotting here & there with a towel; let dry. Then another wash of Acrylic Ink in Burnt Umber, blotting again. After those layers were dry, I rubbed in Heavy Body paint in "Parchment", then a lit...
