TRIMS for WRAPS

Hope you have enjoyed all the ideas our design team has been sharing this month for our theme "It's a WRAP".  We still have a few more days to go! Trims can be used to wrap around a gift box , tie on the handle of a gift bag , attach tags and more!!! Sometimes all a package needs is trims and ribbons to dress it up... See these trims & ribbons  and more at  AlteredPages.com    Floral Flat Jute              Silk ribbon 1/4 inch wide Ivory, Champagne and Pink   Cotton Ribbons Musical Notes, Bees, Crowns and Fleur de Lis   Hand Dyed Ribbons   Shear Ribbon Lavender Daisy Ribbon     Baker's Twine Great color combinations!     Festive Trims Red or Green   And That's a WRAP!

wrapping it up with Christmas tags

Are you Christmasing yet?  For this month's It's a Wrap theme here at Altered Pages, I'm sharing some tags from my Christmas Alphabetica. Each tag is about 2 1/2 by 4 or 5 inches, with lots of fun fibers and trim, and an additional alphabet tag as an embellishment.  There are 26 tags in all (one for each letter of the alphabet, thus the Alphabetica, right?), which would make for pretty packages under the tree, or a slightly over-achieving Advent calendar.  Un craciun fericit--essentially, Merry Christmas in Romanian.  A little bit of ink around the edges--the perfect finishing touch.  Thank you for stopping by, and a Happy Thursday to you! :)trisha angel collage pages Christmas collage pages trims, twines, and tapes ribbons and trims alphabet collage pages ink pads

It's a wrap--toe tags give the final say in packaging

The focus at Altered Pages this month has been gift containers, wraps and tags. With the upcoming Halloween season, I couldn't help but thinking of the most final of packages and the tags that go with them. Yep, you guessed it! Today's post is all about toe tags! Bringing you this creepy post is Betsy Skagen of Paper Calliope . Just think of the head-to-toe tingles you can create when you give a present adorned with the kind of tag hung on bodies at the morgue (or at least a spookified version of one). Each hair-raising tag shows a toe, of course. They also feature pictures of the deceased, as well as hints about the creepy cause of death--whether it be zombie, werewolf, vampire or...you get the picture.  Tutorial: How to make Toe Tag Altered Gift Tags Use a blending tool to ink the edges of a manila tag with brown ink. I own a plethora of vintage tags and thought my "Returned Part" tags were perfect for my toe tag theme. As you can see above...

House Warming Gift Bag

This week I was in need of gift wrap for a house warming gift!  Today I have the bag I created for my gift.  I cannot share what is inside because the person receiving it is a member of the Altered Pages Facebook group!     I wanted it to look like a house... the blue pattern paper topper is the scalloped edged roof and the pink area is similar to a wall paper!    With the bag flat adhere the pink pattern paper using a glue stick.  Arrange items you would like to embellish your bag: Gold Opulence Stickers  (clock and "Time to Celebrate"), K aiserCraft Embellishment Bingo Card Pack ,  and Glitz Whatnots ~ Yours Truly  (frame and queen with heart staff) Using tacky glue attach the Petaloo Flowers.    Fold the blue paper at 8 inches, measure the width needed to fit over the handles of the bag.  Cut a slit 2 inches longer than your measurement and an inch wide. ...

That Little Extra Touch

Welcome back! Wow, can it really be September already?  Well, in Arizona it still feels like summer, but I know Fall is coming and if I had to be honest there is a little something different in the air.  A little chill...oooooh, ahhhh, it's only 85 at night instead of 99 degrees.  Either way, I will take it.  That little something tells me gift giving seasons are upon us and it gets me in the mood to craft, probably like no other time of the year.  There are so many opportunities coming up for us crafters to show our stuff, right?  Well, this month here at Altered Pages our theme is That's a Wrap.  How perfect considering all the gift giving occasions in our near future...? And, I have for you a "little extra touch" you can add to your wrappings for all the occasions in the coming months.    It's a fun little metal ringed tag...you know the kind...like an old fashioned price tag that might be hanging from a beau...

Since we are 'WRAPPING'

Good morning from Jean  I thought I would show a tutorial of making fabric roses which are wrapped and then can be used on your wrapping! We love these because they are multi purpose items, perfect for embellishing any art project, add a pin back and voila you have a brooch, hot glue onto a plastic hairband for some glam, add to a manila or decor tag and you have a lovely one of a kind gift tag for bag. I start by choosing a fun fabric pattern, polka dots are a favorite of mine.   This a fabulous way to use up those fabric scraps that are far too small to save for anything else.  AND our TWILL TAPE TRIM plus other RIBBONS  are Perfect for making the roses.  For my first example, I decided to use ORANGE fabric since we are moving into Fall.   You can do two different things....snip your fabric and rip it (giving a textured raw edge) or carefully cut it into a piece approximately 1 foot long by 1 inch wide.   You can fold the fabric str...
