Greenery - Hello Birdie Scrap Layout!

This month's greenery theme had me thinking of nature and my love of birds.  I created a scrap layout with all this in mind.  I had pulled out a couple of photos of a blue faced honey eater I captured a while back in one of the grevilleas in my Mother In Law's front yard and went from there.   I started with some green cardstock, white paper, my photos and some laser cut chipboard but in the end didn't use the chipboard.    I then grabbed out some Dylusions Border and edge Stamps, and Graphic 45 Papers that depicted greenery and leaves.              I then grabbed an assortment of Green toned Gelatos , scribbled them over the white paper and using some water and glazing medium blended the colour further across the page.     I added further detail to the background using paint and some Stencils , my Dylusions Stamps and Ink along with some torn pieces of Vintage Text pag...

Greenery with Splash Inks!

Color of the Year GREENERY,  I decided to make my own GREENERY with Splash inks  available at AlteredPages.com!       I decided to take the ATC's I shared on Saturday and make them in to cards.  They needed a mat for that would look good with all the greens in the ATC.     My ATC's before (above) and after (below).       To create the green I wanted I used 3 drops of blue Splash Ink and 5 or yellow Splash Ink.  Spritz watercolor paper with water, with a water brush  lightly brush the paper with the color.    On the first one while it was still wet I sprayed it with a  green mist.  The mist flowed and blended into the wet color. The second I let dry before spraying with green mist .   After both were completely dry I sprayed a second time with green mist .   The two pieces of water color paper were cut in half an...

New Beginnings

Fresh Year, Fresh Ideas, Fresh Colors   Click here to See our new line of Stamps Each year Pantone offers a color of the Year and this year is GREENERY. Our Team will be integrating green into their work this month for your visual enjoyment. What is Pantone?    Pantone , Inc. is the authority on color, THE provider of color systems and leading technology for accurate communication of color.    The Pantone Color Matching System is largely a standardized color reproduction system. By standardizing the colors, different manufacturers in different locations can all refer to the Pantone system to make sure colors match without direct contact with one another. One such use is standardizing colors in the  CMYK  process. The CMYK process is a method of printing color by using four inks—cyan, magenta, yellow, and black. A majority of the world's printed material is produced using the CMYK process, and there is a special subset of Panto...

Retro Communication Case Repurposed

A handwritten letter , in my mailbox, envelops me in warmth; as if my late Grandma had scooped me into a tight hug, smelling of sugar cookies. Seriously. Who wouldn't rather find a hand-lettered envelope instead of bills or junk mail?  Knowing that time was spent writing each word, addressing the envelope, and adhering the stamp.  Even the walk to post the letter says something about the value that person gave us when we receive a handwritten letter or card. It says we matter.  Don't you know someone who could use that handwritten hug ? I know I do!  Let us revive the retro art of mailbox hugs !! To make this happen more than the one time, I created a letter box to store my letter writing supplies and give me the ability to transport it. Think of waiting rooms, etc...great down time for catching up on correspondence. My tablet Christmas gift came in just the perfect box for the job. So I repurposed the trash to contai...
