It's Robin today wishing everyone a happy Friday!  I have a few altered spoons to share with you today.  What won't artists decorate, right?  These little wooden spoons make an adorable little canvas.   You can get a set of 5 at Altered Pages and create a bunch, too! I began by staining and painting the wooden spoons with various paints and inks .  The bare wood drank it in and needed minimal drying time.  I used a sponge dauber  to apply the dark green ink and it took the longest to completely dry.  I was probably a little heavy-handed.  The spoons come without holes in the handle so you can decorate the entire length.  I wanted to punch holes so I can hang them.  I used a Crop-A-Dile and it went through like butter! I chose three of these for projects today.  Let me start by saying that if I could do it over, I would make this spoon the other way around so that the angels were at the head of the "body"!  ...

This month at Altered Pages we are teaming up with  Smeared Ink and featuring some of their wonderful Steampunk inspired Digital Images.  I just couldn't resist choosing their very cute Brass Steampunk Reindeer and teaming it up with a Gelli Plate Background. Today I reached for my 5 x 7" Gelli Plate which is just perfect for creating backgrounds for cards and tags.  I wanted to create a Steampunk inspired background to go with the Reindeer Image.  So I grabbed out some chipboard gears and cogs I had on hand and after adding a coat of paint (a mix of Green and Red Fluid/Flow Acrylic) to the Gelli Plate, pressed these in like stamps to imprint the design, when you remove them the paint comes with it. I chose to work with papers for my card today from the Glitz  Joyeux Noel Papers  and used one of these to pick up my print.  The tiny polka dot design of the paper combined with the print taken from my Gelli Plate adds wonderful interest. ...

This month I have had fun playing with a digital stamp. I am relatively new to them and find that they are super because you can resize them to suit your needs. I love the crisp look and find the Smeared Ink Steampunk Grumpies line filled with fun characters. I selected Steampunk Grumpies Goggles for my character. I decided a long time ago I wanted a book mark for my art journal. I dislike the cover that is more an advertisement for the company who produced it so I use the cardboard side as my cover. Well now my little buddy will have a great home holding my place as I work…. I have a collection of cards for you today, most of them feature Smeared Ink's Criss Cross Corset from the Heavy Metal set of digital images.  Digital images are as easy to work with as the Altered Pages collage images!  Both can be resized however you want and colored or cut out to work on your project.   The corset image was fun to work with.  I paired it with various papers, embellishments, stamps and more found right here at Altered Pages .  I made most of these in October so there are some Halloween cards in this set.  I've listed supplies for each card below.  Besides those listed, I also used StazOn black ink , Scor Tape and on some of the embellishments I used Tacky Glue.  You can find all of these supplies in the Tools section over at Altered Pages. Today I am playing with another of the Smeared Ink Steampunk Grumpies with Altered Pages products!  When I showed this card to my husband he said I needed a yellow submarine... at first I didn't get it then I realized this little Octogrump has his own little garden of gears!!!             Color the Smeared Ink digi Octogrump  with Chameleon Pens, fussy cut, add rhinestone eyes with Tacky Glue . Attach the mat and background paper to the card base, lay the white netting from Mermaid Fantasy Muse  Kit   and add embellishments.   Ink the white Bazzill Edges Mini with blue before attaching with Tacky Glue.         Ink the upper left corner of the card lightly with white ink.  Attach dew drops , Anchor and seahorse with Tacky Glue.   Ink the Chipboard Gears   with Delicata Gold and Black inks.     Adhere the Smeared In...
