pocket full of posies

Remember the Spring Flowers book from a few weeks back?  She's returning today with her pockets full, with tags and flowers and all sorts of pretties. The tags are all from a package of Assorted Tags, and there are plenty of lovely floral, bird, and butterfly themed collage pages to be found at Altered Pages. The blooms are all from a set of the beautiful Renae Blush flowers.  All the little bits and bobs are attached to the tags using the lightbulb shaped safety pins . I'm particularly pleased with these French Enamel Chipboard numbers--they have the appearance of real little brass plates ! Have a wonderful, flower-filled week! :)trisha

Thanksgiving leaves

Some super simple fall decorations today--I'm thinking one at each places setting this Thanksgiving?  And really, you could make these for any, well, any anything by changing the collage image to match the holiday or event.  Think Christmas, Halloween, a wedding, baby shower . . . What you'll need: Thanksgiving collage page Leaves large enough to collage an image onto metallic paint--for making multiples, spray paint is the easiest, but if you don't have a good place to use spray paint, settle back and enjoy some brush time with your favorite copper, gold, or bronze. Gel Medium (I like matte, but use your favorite) ribbon or seam binding (optional) 1.  Paint the leaves, front and back, and allow them to dry.  2.  Cut or tear collage images to glue to leaves. 3.  Using the gel medium, adhere the images to the leaves.   4.  Add a protective coating of gel medium to the outside of the image.  Allow this to...

Down the rabbit hole

Hi Everyone, Jess here with an Alice themed tag.   I had this fairy stamp from  Fairie Song Stamps  and I wanted to use just the mushrooms.  I used my Staz On ink to stamp the mushrooms onto shrink plastic.   Once the ink was dry I colored in my images using colored pencils.  I poked holes in the top of the mushrooms, but didn't end up using the holes. I used my heat gun to shrink the images and set them aside.  Notice how intense the colors are! I always keep that in mind when I use shrink plastic.   I cut my Alice  image out and changed the words on her tag from "Drink Me" to "Eat Me."  I glued a tiny mushroom onto her hand and set the image aside. To make my background I used a dye ink and stencil.  Once I had the entire tag covered I shifted the image and covered up what I had just inked leaving the manila exposed.  I used a second ink color and then my whole tag was covered! It's a super easy way...

Spooning up some holiday fun!

Hi Everyone, I've got some altered spoons for you today! They will make the cutest ornaments for your tree or a great tag on top of a gift. Start with your wooden  spoon  and cover it with a color spray . They dry really fast or you can speed up the drying time with your heat gun.  I let mine air dry while I fussy cut my images. Once they were dry I used a small snowflake stamp and randomly stamped all over the spoon. For my first spoon I used multiple images from the  Mini Santa  collage sheet. I cut them to fit into small oval frames. I then attached all the images to my  seam binding  that I dyed using my sprays .   I used foam tape to mount the last image onto my spoon. I wrapped twine around the handle and added some berries and a star.  The head pin is decorated with a plastic bead I colored with alcohol ink.  It's a metallic bead and the alcohol ink will color it and if you roll it around enoug...

It's beginning to look a lot.....

Please don't kill me for posting a Christmas project before Halloween! Jess  here with a fun upcycle project for you. I have gotten a jump start on my holiday crafting and hope to inspire you to start too.  There are some many awesome images available from Altered Pages for your Christmas craft projects.  For this vintage tart tin ornament, I chose the kitten image from the  50's Christmas shee t. I punched the image out using my circle punch and set it aside. I used an awl to hammer a hole in the hop and a hole in the bottom of the tart tin .  I put a jump ring in each hole to make my hanger and the tassel. To make the hanger and tassel I dyed my  seam binding  by using my various  sprays .  I also took some bits of vintage lace to add extra interest.  I tied a single bit of seam binding though the top jump ring and just knotted it to secure it.  For the tassel I pulled the bits of seam binding and lace though the jum...
