Both homes and businesses are adorned with red lanterns and it is a color widely used for weddings and other celebratory events.  During the Chinese New Year Celebrations and other special occasions Red Envelopes similar to those found here in store at Altered Pages are stuffed with money and given as gifts with the red packet symbolizing good luck. A little winter romance

Who doesn't need a little romance in their lives?  This happy couple is enjoying a winter skate with a little Christmas angel watching over them.  This is one of the images on the Young Lovers collage sheet and is perfect for a Christmas card for your sweetie or a favorite couple, a winter anniversary or just a note card to say you're thinking of them.  Altered Pages has Christmas collages of all types from Vintage to modern.  Be sure to check them out for your holiday art. To help give the collage image a little dimension, I dipped the edges in VersaMark and embossed them with a metallic powder to give it a little shine. Altered Pages has a good variety of Christmas paper designs.  If you're looking for something that will stand out, check out the seasonal section on the website!  When I trimmed this paper down from 6x6 to 4x5.25 There was a a pretty good size strip of paper with a lot of the little circles.  My design includes two squ...

Emerald Creek Embossed heart and shoe

I was lucky enough to try out some amazing embossing powders from Emerald Creek this month with Altered Pages. I went for the darker tones in the Allure powders and they are 'Awesome' So beautiful. I got to creating a couple of things with the 'Onyx Frost' and wow did I have fun ! I began by using a wooden heart shaped pendant. I covered it in Versamark clear ink and then covered it in the Onyx Frost embossing powder. I repeated the process four times allowing the layers to cool in between each application. On the fourth layer I got a patterned acrylic stamp (from my stash ) ready and then inked and embossed the last layer. I did not wait more than 5 seconds then pressed the stamp into the warm embossed surface. I held it there for around thirty seconds and lifted it away leaving the gorgeous pattern imprinted on the heart. After I finished embossing I decided to dust with mica powder and then added some Stickles glitz to the finished item. I attached a ...

Supplies: Emerald Creek Embossing Powders - Silvester-Kracher, Northern Lights and Neon Blue Wooden frame from my stash Collage images from Altered Pages (1636 ATC's Christmas) Adhesive Paper Red acrylic paint Miscellaneous embellishments Selection of stamps Ink My starting lineup I used the red acrylic paint to paint the raw inside and outside frame edges. When dry, glue the frame front side down onto the paper.  Alternately you can wrap the paper around the frame edges if it is lightweight paper. Once the glue was dried, I cut the excess paper out of the frame. I cut out all the images from my collage sheet and used the ones that fit best. Glue them down, then use a layer...
