A Birthday Card with a Touch of Love

Red the color of love and power has been our focus this month here at Altered Pages so I took a symbol of love this week to create a little birthday card. The symbol I refer to is the Red Rose - I received some from my hubby for Valentines Day and as they started to droop took the petals off the stems to dry them out to use for making Rose Water but then whilst thinking about my project here today I decided to use a couple of the dried out petals to create a little texture for a print on the Gel Printing Plate . I started my print with a simple layer of Mustard Distress Oxide Ink.  I placed a punched out circle down on this paint layer to create a space for my desired sentiment. Then I added a layer of Red Paint to the plate for the second layer of color on my print and covered this with the rose petals to create some texture which also would allow the underneath color layer to show through. Feliz Cumpleanos!

If your family is like mine, they get together for family dinners to celebrate holidays and birthdays.  Table décor is a fun way to help make the day special.  Today I have a wooden centerpiece that would be great to sit at the dining table or on a mantle or shelf.   I have a few of these wonderful square wood blocks just waiting around for the perfect project.  I grabbed some orange paint and coated both the block and glass slide holder with a bright orange acrylic paint.  I didn't gesso the block first because I wanted the wood grain to show through the paint.       This beautiful purple ribbon was in one of the ephemera treasure packs and it goes with the SABOR designs perfectly.  A little tacky glue holds it in place on the wooden block.      The candles on this piece of SABOR paper were painted with Crystal Lacquer to give them shine and dimension.  A small amount of Stickles glitter glue is in the...

A Last Minute Birthday Wish!

If you are like me there are plenty of times you remember someone's birthday at the last minute... too late for a trip to the store... but wait... SABOR Papers and Sabor Cutouts make it easy to make a birthday greeting in just a few minutes!!! Supplies: Black cardstock SABOR - Ole Sentimientos SABOR - Ole Picado SABOR - Ramitos SABOR - Ole Cutouts Bazzil- Flower Tacky Glue Dew Drops Glue Stick Foam Dimensional Adhesives Cut  Black cardstock   11 x 4 1/2 inches, and score at 3 inches and 8 inches, fold towards the center for a "gate fold".    When the card is folded it will measure 5 x 4 1/2. Cut papers slightly smaller than 3 x4 inches for the front, adhere with Glue Stick . Add the cut out "Feliz Cumpleanos" (Happy Birthday).
