As you know this month Altered Pages is pairing up with Unruly PaperArts , a blogozine filled with creative ideas, art and inspiration.  Each month they cover a different theme ~ Aprils theme is Mail Art & Moos with a creative prompt of  Teacups & Tiaras.   Altered Page Artsociates are also incorporating laser cut chipboard from  Leaky Shed Studios .  If you've been following along this month I think you can tell we're all having great fun with it. Here is my offering for you today... a very British Postcard.... The teacup was painted with gesso then covered with two layers of the Silks Acrylic Glaze.  I used the Inca Gold Guilders Paste on the crown, rim of the tea cup and saucer.    To make the thin gold line around the outside edges of the postcard I used a scrap sheet of paper and positioned it so only the very edge of the postcard was showing.  I then rubbed the Guilders Paste over this exposed area and re...

MailArt and Teacups and Tiaras is the theme we have all been playing along with this month whilst cross promoting with Unruly PaperArts . For my post today I was inspired by the orient and traditional tea ceremonies.  My postcard started with me cutting out two images from the Tea Party Collage Sheet AP-518. I also used some oriental text and an image from the Oriental Backgrounds Collage Sheet .  To add color to my background I used some Fire Brick Distress Stain and my cherry blossom border strips were punched out from some left over Gelli Prints.  To finish I added a lucky coin from my stash and some Havana Brown Seam Binding which is also available at Altered Pages. Altered Pages is playing along with Unruly PaperArts this month.   The monthly theme at Unrly PaperArts is Teacups an Tiaras! Alice in Wonderland is one of my favorite subjects...   when I think of tea I see ALICE! Paint the Leaky Shed Teacup and Crown with gesso, dry, then paint teacup with Silk Pink Grapefruit and dry, trim with German Scrap. Paint crown with Golden Iridescent Gold, top with Robbin's Nest Dew Drops. Distress edges of envelope with Brown and Black ink.  Adhere doily edge doily with Wink of Stella - Silver . Layer the Mad Hatter Party image from the  Alice in Wonderland Collage Sheet . Adhere Alice and Queen to thin chipboard and fussy cut to give a little dimension. This month Altered Pages is teaming up with Unruly PaperArts for some artsy fun! This month Unruly PaperArts April theme is Mail Art & Moos. Two of my favorite types of art to create so I was very excited. Each month Unruly PaperArts shares Reader Art Quest Creative Prompts ~ to inspire and encourage you to create art ~ they then request you to share that art. This months Reader Art Quest  prompts are "Teacups & Tiaras" along with the photo (shown below) - tea cups, tiara, peacock feathers, etc...  Beautiful isn't it?   As I took inspiration from both the theme for April - Mail Art and the Reader Art Quest creative prompts I came up with today's contribution... You may know I really enjoy creating my own collage backgrounds, and Altered Pages  keeps me well supplied with a huge variety of ephemera with their Vintage Text Collections . However, if you've ever made backgrounds like this, you may know that it can be difficult to stamp on them.   While this is great for some effects, sometimes I want a clean, polished look. FOUND IT.  The Robin's Nest   has some beautiful rub-ons, and they are perfect for applying over bumpy, collaged papers, like in this mail-art postcard: featuring Altered Pages Vintage Text Collection and collage image Viva Rub-On from The Robin's Nest It applied like a dream over all those "seams," and the color is gorgeous. Hi there! Becky here today to share something new to me...   Mail Art   (sort of!) I say "sort of" because it's not the traditional Mail Art that you would trade with someone in a swap, like ATC's. But rather a box that I completely decorated as part of a submission to Somerset Studios! You may remember the sneak peek I gave you a couple weeks ago of my Gypsy Art Book that will hopefully be in the shop as a kit soon... And I thought to myself, "What better way to grab their attention than a painted box in the mail with my book inside?!"
