Magnetic Paper Dolls!

Happy Tuesday! Ink Stained Roni here...today my blog Ink Stains is celebrating it's 5th anniversary.  To celebrate I am having an Altered Altoids Tin Blog Hop / On-Line Art Festival ! It just so happens that today is my day to post here on Altered Pages as well so I thought it would be fun to share a project combing the two.  And that project is.... Magnetic Paper Dolls!   I covered the outside of the tin with some girlie vintage pattern papers....   and I also added some to the inside as well.   I then printed the little girls & dresses from Altered Pages collage sheet - More Paper Dolls  so they would fit into the tin.  Approx. 50% of the original.   Next I ran the images through my Xyron and glued it to a magnetic sheet.  Cut the images out and you're set to go!   This would make a super little stocking stuffer or great to take along on a car trip or vacation.  The basic instructions would also work to create a tin for

Arizona Tales

Here we are almost entering December 2012, hard to believe as we just had our July 4th b-b-q it seems. This is the time of year that I wish I was back in Pennsylvania with the crisp leaves and the chill of the Holidays to really get me in the spirit.   Have you ever lived somewhere that had great big department stores with BIG display windows?    They are spectacular during the Holidays, if you get the chance make sure to see it.     I actually worked for Gimbels Department Store (Yes, that Gimbels) for my summer fresh out of high school.   I worked in the suburbs, but the downtown store was always amazing.   Holiday windows were filled with twirling ballerinas and lifesize tin soldiers and carolers.    The trees throughout the store were magical creations of ornaments and ribbons and lights.    Everything was over the top opulent and breathtaking.   Santa was always regally seated in his own special area with a huge ornate velvet and carved golden chair.    The elevators took y

A Bit of Serendipity for Christmas

Hi Everyone!  It's Danie here today sharing a couple of Christmas Cards with you using my new favorite Collage Sheet Ivory Angels  - AP 2090 and a favorite Serendipity Technique to create my Backgrounds.  This technique is great for using up your paper scraps and one I use a lot for my canvases. Both of these cards today are  again using up my leftovers from the Graphic 45 Christmas Emporium Papers and the Sentiment is from the Even More Christmas Images Collage Sheet  - AP1027. My background for this card combines my paper scraps, gesso and paint which has been applied using a piece of bubble wrap.  I have then added some further panels of my Graphic 45 Papers to highlight my background colors, My Ivory Angel, Sentiment and a bit of bling to finish. My second card follows the same steps as the first card, however I have then stamped and embossed some snowflakes in black and white over the top for further texture and dimension.  Each time you end up with a unique one

Christmas tags

Hi there, Katrina here from the design team.           I was thinking, why not give everyone a little piece of you with their Christmas pressie this year by making them their own individual tag. They don't have to be elaborate creations that takes you days to create but just a little piece of your own style art in the form of a tag like these ones I have made here using scraps of last years papers and the wonderful Altered Pages collage sheet called Betty Bonnet Christmas.       Its a sheet of paper dolls with Christmas outfits, which I have dressed them in. Great fun that really took me back to my childhood as I used to love paper dolls, and still do. I made 4 tags with this sheet but you could make a few more if you wanted to. Here they are......    The holly boy tag says Holly but you can't really see it on the photo. Sorry about that but it is such a dark, grey cold rainy afternoon here I had to do them with the lights on.    Have a look at the Paper doll

Dear Santa, I've Been Good....

This Dear Santa Memento Book can be used to keep the photos and journaling of a child's (grandchild's) holiday excitement as he or she opens the gifts.  On the first page of the book the child's name and wishlist can be written in the form of a letter to Santa with the Dear Santa Embossing Folder from Altered Pages.  The inside pages are completed to form little pockets where momentos and photos can be placed.  There's even a place for journaling on the opposite pages. Add some more embellishments or stamps to help personalize the pages to correspond with the photos inside.  The Joyeux Noel paper adds to the cuteness of this little book with its Santa patterns and gorgeous holiday themes.    This wonderful gimp trim adds a strength to the binding so the book can be opened often and yet adds a nice little finishing touch with it's loops to the cover of the book.  Be sure to celebrate the holidays by capturing photos of those special moments and then cre

Has it been a week already? Sunday in Arizona

I was forced out of my office/studio today.  My long suffering husband set a time limit on me and then it was out the door we went.  Fresh air, sunshine, some exercise and even some shopping.   As is with allot of other men, he does not relish shopping for the sake of shopping.  A few years back he actually offered to make a day of it by going to an outlet mall!   I took a photo of him standing under the BIG Outlet sign with bags loading him down & included it in our Christmas cards!  This week I have promised myself some art time, i long to make things and I have some new paints waiting to do so.   I am going to test some new paints and share my work and results for you to judge -   Both me and the paints!    Uh Oh!! Here is an Arizona sunset for you to take a breath and enjoy. I will post some artwork later this week, stay tuned.

Paper Scraps and Bottle Caps

Hi Everyone it's Danie here today, with a Christmas Tag to share with you all, created using up some of my paper scraps and a bottle cap. I have been working on a number of projects for Christmas using the Graphic 45 Christmas Emporium Papers from Altered Pages and had some bits of these delightful papers left over so I thought I would make some tags.  I started by taking a Manilla Tag  and using this as a template cut out the same shape from a piece of the Blue Snowflake Paper.  To this I have stamped and embossed some white snowflakes and added a small clear rhinestone to the center of each snowflake.  I then inked the edges with some Paris Trunk Walnut Ink and adhered to the Manilla Tag.  For the center of my tag I have layered some Gold Metallic Ribbon and Natural Colour Netting under a scrap of the Toy Paper. To coordinate and add another touch of Christmas I have punched out with a 1" Circle Punch Santa's face from one of the images from the Santa Santa

and now for something completely different . . .

Okay, it's not a Thanksgiving project, or a Christmas project, or something having anything remotely to do with the latest Altered  Pages challenge . . . however, it just goes to show how Altered Pages really DOES have pretty much any collage image you may need! I joined an altered rolodex swap, and the theme was Josephine Baker .  Do you recognize the name?  Most people probably do, she was a remarkable woman with outstanding talent.  And of course, Altered Pages has the goods--check out this fabulous page of images ! This is the front of the card--the back has another image, and the swap/contact info:  Have a great weekend, everyone! :)trisha

Vintage Free-Standing Thanksgiving Turkey Decoration

Since Thanksgiving is little more than a week away here in the States I thought it would be fun to create the beginnings of a beautiful Thanksgiving Centerpiece.  The best part about this free-standing decoration is that you make it using a great vintage Thanksgiving image from Altered Pages paired with a few supplies already in your stash! Vintage Free-Standing Thanksgiving Turkey & Cart Supplies: Altered Pages Digital Collage Sheet - 335 Happy Thanksgiving Chipboard Adhesive Brown Ink Ink Blending Tool Crystal Lacquer Green Cardstock Basic Instructions: You need to choose the image you want to turn into your free-standing decoration.  I am using the very cool Turkey & Cart from the Collage Sheet - 335 Happy Thanksgiving .    I enlarged the image, made a second copy of the image which I flipped so it was the mirror image.  I then printed these images out on heavy white cardstock. I mounted these images onto a heavy weight chipboar

It's yet again Sunday In Arizona

The weeks have been so busy with work and play.    Charity events and craft shows really kick into high gear in the Fall.    All things for which to be thankful. Perhaps you are playing along with the 30 Days of Thankful on Facebook.  If we each take one minute a day to think of our "Thankful Things", I bet we will all feel a little better about our self and our surroundings.   I did an exercise once where we were all asked to comment on one thing nice about our spouse.   I was shocked when I stopped to think about it and realized all the good things there were that I rarely acknowledged.   Not because I did not appreciate them but simply because I was too busy, or took them for granted or........so it's time to say thanks before I get busy again..... I am thankful for our Wonderful Design Team and all the amazing creativity they bring to our lives.   I am thankful for all the truly wonderful customers AlteredPages has.   I am thankful for all the

You Browse Department Stores. Why Not Altered Pages?

Okay, we've all been there! Finishing up a project, and realizing that you need just the perfect little something-or-other to complete it. That's the great thing about having gone shopping at Altered Pages and stocked up on things that just seem interesting and fun at the time, with no immediate purpose in mind. As I was working on the Vintage White theme tag above for a swap group in which I participate, so I found some silk flowers (that I deconstructed!) and a lovely image of a woman all dressed for the snow, which I attached to an acrylic pendant with Sakura 3D lacquer. I also used a very thin layer of the Sakura 3D lacquer to hold down the antique embroidered wedding veil - it holds strongly and clear! These were all things that I had purchased on whim at Altered Pages , and was so happy to find in my supply closet. Then I was finishing up my Rusted them project for this month's Altered Pages Challenge, and realized that I still needed somethi

Need help making your holiday cards this year?

It's a busy time of year and it's often hard to get those cards made and mailed on time.  The Simply Tasteful Santa's 10 Card Kit that I created can help you with getting your card making crossed off your "to do" list not only this year, but in years to come.  Once you purchase this kit, you will receive all of the supplies needed to make 10 different holiday cards and you will have the instructions to use in the future for other holidays and occasions where a card is needed.   All you will need to add to complete this holiday kit is a pair of scissors.   The above picture shows only 2 of the cards that you will make and you will receive everything to make these plus 8 more! How great is that?   Make your holidays a little easier for yourself and be ahead of the game.  Go over to the Altered Pages site and drop this kit in the shopping cart today.    Happy Holidays Everyone!   ~Peg

Christmas Past

Is anyone else feeling the holiday spirit? I'm not. Not yet. I feel like I've barely come down from the Halloween fun and haven't even had time to get my turkey for Thanksgiving and already I'm being bombarded with Christmas images that I know I need but don't yet have time to work with. But in the spirit of Christmas past, I will share with you some holiday tags I did last year (and hope to do more of this year). These tags are grungy and vintagy and right up my alley when it comes to Christmas themes. While many times I create bright and cheery Christmas things, I much prefer to do things in this style, and there is no place better than Altered Pages to get images that fit! --Michelle

Holiday Cards with Shimmer, Dimension and Shine using Altered Pages Collage Images

Welcome to Altered Pages - hope you are enjoying your weekend! Susan here and now that November is upon us, Christmas card creating and handmade holiday gift making is in full swing. Today I am sharing a Christmas Card I made using a single digital vintage image from AlteredPages.com . This is a vintage Christmas greeting { AP single 601 } of a holiday storefront window. I printed out four copies onto a matte finish white cardstock. Four copies are enough so that I can accent and dimensionalize the base layer, then accent sections of the figures that I cut out and raise with foam pop dots for a faux 3-D effect. I accented the details using different colors of the  Terri Sproul Mixers  and also made the window dimensional by painting with  Sakura 3D Crystal Lacquer . I cut out the figures and sections to build up multiple layers using foam pop dots. Before adhering, I finished off the white edges of the hand-cut pieces with Paris Trunk

Getting Ready for Christmas

Hi everyone it's Danie here today!  Can you believe it's less than eight week's until Christmas!  For my family the past few weeks have been so busy that I thought it best to start thinking about Christmas and making some To Do Lists.  So in order to do so I made this quick and easy Christmas Planner using one of the Vintage Santa Images from the - 1111D - Santa Santa Santa Collage Sheet  you'll find at Altered Pages and some bits and pieces in my stash. Inside I've added some paper from an old note pad which I have cut to size and stamped with a Christmas Sentiment for my list making and it also has a pocket so that I can keep my postage stamps, spare gift tags and the like on hand. My lists once complete will need to be visible so I also made a quick Moo Card Fridge Magnet with a smaller image from the same Collage Sheet to keep them on the Fridge and I will use some of the other images a bit later to make some gift tags and greeting cards too.

quilted fabric inchies

Have a wonderful weekend, everyone--if you'd like to see more of the bracelet, please stop by my blog and have a peek. :)trisha
