November is National Vegetarian Month, right?

Reginald is a very fine Gentleman. He also thinks that people should eat more vegetables and less meat, especially in November (and all year actually)! I had a lot of fun making this one.  He developed a personality while we worked. My supplies included the main ingredient of the Foundations Decor Turkey and sanding board, Dixie Belle Paints and brush, papers, feathers, gilding, duo glue, Aleenes Tacky glue, Dew Drops and Dew Drop glue dots, assorted accent paints AND the wonderful chicken wire. Couldn't do it without my Kai scissors! I started by lightly sanding the edges (they really did not need it, however) .  Then I applied paint to the back and sides.       Now for cutting the paper, I devised a special trick for getting into tiny places to trace the pattern.   You will sand the paper edges, but this helps too.  I took my mechanical pencil and emptied some lead, then I gently used the bare lead to t...

Witches Boot

Fall is quickly approaching and Halloween will be here before you know it.  My project today is a wooden boot place-card holder by Foundations Decor.  Altered Pages sells several different wooden pieces you can decorate and they are all so much fun! This little boot could also easily have been an elf-boot for Christmas, but thanks to the beautiful temperatures here in Michigan right now I'm really in an autumn mood.   I chose to make an orange boot for the holiday and selected Dixie Bell's terra cotta chalk paint.  The matte finish of the chalk paint is exactly what I was looking for. The paint went over the untreated wood beautifully.  Just let it dry completely and you're ready to go on with the decorations. Altered Pages has a lot of really great Halloween collages.  I looked for collage images that had smaller pictures that would fit on this 3"x 3" boot. I used the same witch on both the left and right sides of t...

Is it getting Chilly??

You might think it is based on my sweet little project today. Howdy, It's Jean with another Foundations Decor item for the winter holidays. This sweet little tree is a place card or photo holder.  High-quality wood with a metal spindle for the photo and a little MDF heart for more decoration. 2 x 2 1/2 wood only, add the metal and it reaches  5 1/2 inches tall.   I used very simple ingredients for the project. Foundations Decor Wooden Pine Tree Mica Aleenes Glue scissors Jute and Wood Trim ~ 75% off last year! Lime Green acrylic paint   So easy and so colorful.  This may inspire you to use more than papers.  Think paints, glitters, baubles, pearls and most anything that you can glue onto the wood. Stay tuned for more fab wood from our Team and Foundations Decor. p.s. this week all Foundations Decor is 10% off!

A day of art play with Creative People

These shots are from my work this week. But read on to see my ARTSY friends at play.                                              I began with the darling  Foundations Decor WITCHES BOOT.  I painted it with DIXIE BELLE Paints for my base coat.    Then I added Art Anthology Sorbet in purple for subtle sparkle and texture.  I added a die cut from our Halloween papers...'Toil and Trouble'.   The buckle was coated with Art Anthology Sorbet and while wet I sprinkled purple mica chips for a bit of bling.  The piece of orange ribbon was added to make the buckle POP.   I played with various ribbons and lace for the photo stem.   My cigar box was covered in our Halloween papers and our Halloween 6x6 Die Cut papers.     I chopped up a plastic skeleton and applied him to the top of the box. ...
