Playing with Paper Clay - An Introduction!

Christmas the silly season is upon us, so I don't have a project per say however I had a few moments spare finally to break out a product I have had on hand for some time but hadn't yet played with.  Creative Paper Clay is an air dry modelling material which you can use with suitable molds to create your own embellishments for a wide array of projects you make or simply shape into your desired embellishment by hand and etch pattern or details into it, etc. Start by breaking off a piece in the size large enough for your chosen mold.  Knead and warm it a little in your hands to make it more pliable and then fill and work it into the mold.  Smooth off the clay so it is level with the top of the mold and then set aside to dry.  Usually allow 24hrs for this. Be sure to place and store immediately your left over clay in an air safe container such as Tupperware so it doesn't dry out. There are various molds on the market that are suitabl...

Sweet Vintage Fairies ATC's

What a magical month it's been here at Altered Pages where we have been joined by Sweet Fairies all month long.  Today I wanted to share a few techniques I love using when making ATC's and use a couple more of the wonderful Fairies from the Fairy Doll Collage Sheet that I also used earlier this month. For my ATC's today I have played with a couple of different background techniques.  Firstly I started with some Vintage Text Pages torn into pieces and then stuck down on a piece of card.  I then coated this with a thin layer of Gesso , and once this was dry I sprayed with some Spray Ink . Text Pages and Gesso to start my embossed piece. Once the spray ink was dry I then took this piece and ran through my Big Shot with an embossing folder .  Taking some ink on my Ranger Blending Tool ,  I then smooched around the embossed piece with some ink to highlight the embossed design.  You will see I used torn pieces of this embossed card behind my fairie...

Louisiana Masked!

I love Louisiana! I would love to share the feeling that exist there. The warmth, love and fun that we all share. I know that many people think of Louisiana as a place filled with party filled lifestyles, Mardi Gras and indulgences.  Yes but there is so much more than that. Louisiana is rich in history, dialects, and food. It is a place of hope and love. My wish is that you one day can experience all of its beauty and people. I hope you enjoy my Mask of fun from my heart to yours! Supplies: dollar store mask chipboard glue Popsicle sticks Gesso Gelatos Acrylic Paint Louisiana Collage sheet Cemetery Angels fibers, yarns, ribbons beads sequins glitter   Please comment daily to share the love with our artists and be entered into the random drawing for a package of vintage postcards and a vintage map.   (value 17.00)

Feathered Friend Fun!

Hi Everyone!  It's Danie here today, with some little quirky feathered friends I have been doodling and painting just for fun using a mix of Splash Inks and Gelatos which are two fabulous mediums available at Altered Pages . For my backgrounds I used a variety of Stencils with my Splash Inks and then colored in some of the white space with a bright yellow Gelato. My birds have been painted with Splash Ink, and doodled over with both black and white pen and they wouldn't be complete without their feathers/crown.  This is something I love to create just to relax as it involves playing with color, getting messy and doodling, how about yourself, is their anything you love to create just for you? I have one other ATC to share today which uses one of the pieces of this same Splash Ink Background.  The Red in this one I thought gave it an oriental look and was a perfect compliment to this beautiful Geisha I had sitting spare on my desk. Until next time! Dan...
