Part II of Journal Page into a Card

Welcome to the  Altered Pages  Blog today.  We are in the final days of our collaboration between the Altered Pages Design Team and Rubber Stamp Depot.  Can I just tell you that I had a lot of fun incorporating the   deeply etched red rubber stamps   into my projects this month.  Here is a sneak peak... Today's post is part II of a journal page turned Birthday card (original journal page pictured below) and the part I post can be found here. I will be honest...I loved the journal page so much that it was hard to chop it in half, but I am very pleased with the end result and it is for a most wonderful person, my Gram who turns 86 this June!  So, this card just had to be beautiful.  Plus, she LOVES butterflies!   Okay, on with the show... I started by creating the actual card using a cream colored sheet of card stock and folded it in half. I inked the edges of the front of the card using Stazon Midi  in Gothic Purple and Spiced Chai.     Next, I grabbed t

Memorial Day ~ Let us remember and give Thanks

Jean here today, and I have been wondering about the various Patriotic Holidays and finally saw something that made it clear.... Memorial Day Remembers those who lost their life serving the USA. Veterans Day celebrates those who have served in the past. Armed Forces Day honors those who are in Military Service currently.   Please join us in Thanking all the above for our freedoms and the sacrifices made on our behalf. We have a winner of the Patriotic Dew Drops this week..... Congrats Julie Benge! PLEASE COMMENT FOR OUR ARTISTS, THEY WORK TO BRING YOU BEAUTY AND INSPIRATION.

Mariachi Scrapbook Page

May the Fiesta last all year long!!  What does a combination of Sabor papers, an adorable Mariachi skeleton stamp, a cute set of mariachi kiddos, and tons of mixed media texture add up to? My favorite scrap page yet! Now, how festive and cute-as-a-button is this?! Here is my abbreviated supply list: Mariachi Rubber stamp    Circles Background Rubber Stamp    Sabor Papel  -assorted scraps Stencils Embellishments   -trim, embossing powder, flowers, leaves, mini clothespin, etc... Paper    Mediums and Gesso    Ink and Mists    Paints    Adhesives    That's just the beginning of what you can use. Destash people! I grabbed a textured 12x12 paper that was handy. I gessoed over for a great surface to work on. It cuts down on warping. I mixed my inks, chose some sprays and I was off and crafting. I needed a few layers of texture as my foundation. Scrape the mediums through stencils.  Love to use black gesso as a texture.

Creative Play Time

Hi everyone ... Happy Friday!  I have a card to share with you today.  I see it as either a birthday or save the date card because of the time theme.  Let's get started.  There is a list of supplies at the bottom of the post. I chose three different designs from the 6x6 Accomplished Authentique paper pad.  I am using the small brick, keys and clocks designs.  They all heavily feature black on them so I went with black cardstock and ribbon, as well. Using a sketch that I found online, I cut the  paper into panels and layered them on the black cardstock with double sided adhesive.  To create the decorative embellishment for the card, I grabbed an Eco Board Inchie and painted it with black chalkboard paint. When it was dry, I glued a metal timepiece charm to it.  The focal point of the card is a big Kraft clock face, with a metal disk and a single black Dew Drop glued to it.  There is a time themed collage sheet with other fantastic choices for this design.  The Eco

Packing Tape Postcards

Today I wanted to play with the technique of image transfers using packing tape in my Dylusions journal......I had a blue page spread I had created some time ago using my gelatos, paint and stencils and it was time to add further to this page. I decided to use some images both from an Altered Pages Collage Sheet and some of my own photos from the beach for it.  I then had the idea of creating some aged looking postcards as if on holiday at the beach. I started by creating my postcard backgrounds.   I started with a blue gelato and a little gesso. I simply scribbled the blue gelato over my background pieces.  I then painted over my scribble with a wet brush.  A small amount of Gesso was then brayered across the wet gelato. Removing the spray nozzle from the Dylusions Spray Ink I sprinkled a little bit of color over the background and brayered. Then it came time to work with my images. I picked out an image from the Girls of Summer Collage
