Sacred Angel of Tuna

OK, so that's pretty crazy! Actually, my project uses an angel and a tuna can! This angelic diorama came to be due to my choosing of a pescatarian  diet (vegetarian allowing fish).   I have been wanting to make dioramas but simply did not get around to it (that's a bad pun in the whole tuna can thing!) Chicken of the Sea came to my rescue. I cleaned the can and removed the label.  I painted the interior and around the rim with chalk paint tinted with interference paint.  While the paint was still wet I coated it with iridescent glitter. I used a fancy cut angel from collage # 669 and created a stand so it would be 3 dimensional inside the 'heavenly sphere'.   I cut a small piece of ruffled lace and folded it over to create a cushion for the base of the angel's stand.  I used E6000 to apply the lace securely.   I then covered the exterior of the can with flat lace and an overlay of ruffled lace sprayed and sprin...

Angels Abound at Christmas time

Hi there, it's Jean to share my Angel with you.   My Christmas tree and decorations are bright colors but I always have a soft spot for a sweet angel.  This sweet girl (not sure why but I think of angels as girls, maybe because they are often adorned in pastel colors) glistens and softly shines.        I added glitter to the chalk paint and coated the angel. The Collage angel I chose was fancy cut and applied with watery Aleenes glue. Next was the wings of lace and the flowers, I did this before anything because I wanted to coat it all with glitters.  I used four glitter styles. Fine iridescent white and pale pink and chunky pink over top.  Layer upon layer of glitters, it is after all Angelic!!  The final glitter material was flakes added to the bottom edge in a greenish tone to pick up the green in the flowers.  I hope you can see all the sparkle!    Supplies...

faux glass Christmas Angel ornament

Most beautiful ways to use EMERALD CREEK Embossing Powders Do you use embossing powders? One of my favorite embossing powder "tricks" is to use clear powder make something appear encased in glass. That's what I did here, to make a prettyChristmas ornament. Emerald Creek has a huge selection of powders to choose from; I used a shiny wintery silver around the edges. First, I cut down a heavy ATC blank, and gave it a little ink/stamping, and fussy cut some angels from the Snow Angels collage page. Next, I glued down the angels and added jewelry findings in each end of the ornament.  A couple of layers of clear embossing powder were applied on each side, and silver around the edges. A crystal charm was attached in the bottom loop, and a piece of sparkly tulle in the top to hang with and voila!  A pretty little Christmas ornament!  Guess what?  Emerald Creek also has charms and lots of them.  Check back all month for mor...

Angelic Tree Diorama

My diorama mood has carried over into the Holiday Season. I've assembled a few items, sprinkled with golden sweetness, and adhered with love!! Here are the items needed: Wood frame    ATC Tin    Gold Embossing powder    Glitter     Vintage Image     Medium    Chalk paint    Ribbon    Dew Drops    Sisal tree    Bazzill paper trim    Stickles        I painted the tin with the chalk paint and set aside to dry. The frame was embossed for a gold leaf effect. The inside of the tin was glittered entirely. Cut out your image and use some medium for dimension. I took the Bazzill edges and painted and glittered. Assembled and adhered all inside the tin. Ribbon on the outside and on the bottom of the tin. Then adhered the tin to the frame and added a ribbon. I have to make...

Angels for your Christmas Tree!

Hi everyone, it's Danie here today.  Are you thinking Christmas yet?  I sort of am, but I am still managing to neglect my card making.....last minute here I come.  I have been doing a lot more drawing and painting of faces and the like lately so when I saw a recent swap for some art dolls I thought it sounded like fun, and although I didn't join the swap I had a play with the shape and now I am addicted to them.  So with Christmas approaching I thought of making some Christmas Angel Art Dolls and even better they can be used as ornaments on your Christmas Tree or even a Gift Tag.  They would also make the most wonderful gift for a friend. The shape of these dolls is a similar to a nesting doll and if you want you could use some of the fabulous collage images available at Altered Pages for your faces if you don't draw them yourself.  I chose to draw mine and add color with my Gelatos using water and a fine brush. I stamped the wings which are layer...
