MIXED ELEMENTS CHALLENGE

Yes, we are having a challenge (with an awesome prize) and we want YOU to join in and make this a blast.  It’s easy, nothing to send in; just you, your art supplies, and unlimited possibilities.

Okay, here are the guidelines:  You need to create a collage using the following elements:  metal, paper, and ink.  Minimum size of 4” X 4'” and a maximum size of 8” X 10” is allowed.  Your materials can be copic, alcohol, stamp pad, on foamcore, canvas, art board, corrugated, cardstock, etc.  Easy peasy.

You will need to commit to the do the challenge by posting a comment on this blog post.  Once you commit, I will email you a coupon code good for 10% off your next purchase at Altered Pages.  That way, if you need any supplies for the challenge, you will be able to purchase them at a discount.

Once your challenge project is complete, you will need to post it to your blog and backlink it (by using the link button below) to this post no later than midnight, May 15th.  The winner will be chosen by an independent artist with no affiliation to AlteredPages Artsociates and will be posted on May 18th

Now, the prize!  It’s the Wildflower Limited Edition Scrapbook Kit, a $60 value!  It comes with a 8″x8″ chipboard album, 11 cutting dies, mini alphabet die set, 24 double-sided 8″x8″ sheets of patterned paper (2 of each pattern).  The paper color pallet is made up of yellows, blues, teal greens, and hot pink.  The alphabet includes uppercase letters, numbers and punctuation.  The dies include flowers, bird and label to embellish your album.

    1. Dorothy, try linking from Facebook. If you get the message that it can't be linked, you should see three tabs at the top of the message. Choose the "upload from your computer" option. Everything should then work fine.

Handy Tip for Artists, Recyclers and Neat Freaks! I have a follow-up to the Citra-Sol method for creating fabulous background pages and collages.   I bought a big bag of navel oranges and realized I had the ingredients to make my own solvent!   Simply take a clean glass jar, peel the rind from the oranges and place all the rind/peels, without the pulp (tangerines, oranges, navels) into the jar.   Pour enough vinegar over the peels to cover them.    Allow the jar to sit for a week or two and VOILA!     You have made your own solvent for literally pennies.    You will notice the liquid getting a bit thicker than the plain vinegar and it does not smell bad!!! I now have a  HUGE jar on the window sill!       Be careful and only use this after testing on a safe spot.
