Altered Spring Trinket Box

Happy Friday 13th everyone! This is Leslie-Rahye from Texas! Spring is in full force here and it has me thinking of flowers and birds and butterflies! Altered Pages has these amazing collage sheets with beautiful spring images all over them that inspired me to create this fun Trinket Box for hiding treasures that I find this spring.
For this project you need:
ModPodge
Trim
Staedtler Pigment Liner
Clear Embossing powder
a wooden box
To create this project, I applied tissue to the wooden box with ModPodge. I trimmed out the images from the college sheets that I thought went best with my idea. They were also adhered to the tissue covered box with modpodge. Once the adhesive was dry, I coated the images with Walnut Ink to age them. I then spinkled some Clear Emboss powder over the surface of the lid and heat set it with an embossing gun. I attached the trim with double stick tape. I printed out the word Spring in an outline font and then tangled in the white spaces. The letters were trimmed out and inked lightly with the Walnut Paris Trunk ink. ModPodge adhered the letters to the lid.

I hope you enjoy this my first post as a newly appointed proud Design Team Member of Altered Pages! Thank you for looking! ~leslierahye

Handy Tip for Artists, Recyclers and Neat Freaks! I have a follow-up to the Citra-Sol method for creating fabulous background pages and collages.   I bought a big bag of navel oranges and realized I had the ingredients to make my own solvent!   Simply take a clean glass jar, peel the rind from the oranges and place all the rind/peels, without the pulp (tangerines, oranges, navels) into the jar.   Pour enough vinegar over the peels to cover them.    Allow the jar to sit for a week or two and VOILA!     You have made your own solvent for literally pennies.    You will notice the liquid getting a bit thicker than the plain vinegar and it does not smell bad!!! I now have a  HUGE jar on the window sill!       Be careful and only use this after testing on a safe spot.
