Tag Art with Prima

Hello artists and crafters.  Happy Friday!  Today I have a floral tag to share.  The rose pattern by Prima in their 6x6 Paintables paper pad reminds me very much of a tapestry.

The flower background, tag and each of the smaller images which embellish the tag are by Prima and you can find them all at Altered Pages.  I also used three of their gorgeous acrylic paints.  These paints have a wonderful shimmer.  And when you use them lightly or thinned with water they dry quickly.

I began by adding paint to the floral watercolor paper using a baby wipe.  I wanted to keep the paint thin enough for the black lines of the flowers to show clearly.  When that was done, I  went back and darkened in the green leaves and painted the roses with more of the copper paint.  Then I used the white paint to tone down the green leaves.  Confused?  The white paint is thin enough to let the color through but added more sheen to them.

The accent flowers were colored with permanent markers in various colors.  The alcohol ink in them colored over the paint and let them stand out.  Some of the flower bunches were outlined with a white gel pen and then filled in with the white Prima paint.

These Prima tags are made of watercolor paper so I sprayed them with water and used my finger to randomly apply the green paint.  Emerald StazOn ink and some punchinella add to the texture of the tag. Later, after the image was added I sponged a little orange paint onto the green to draw in the flowers.  The emerald ink was also sponged onto the edges of the tag and floral piece.

The beautiful Prima watercolor pad has several mini images perfect to be used for embellishments.  I chose three and painted them with the same three Prima colors.  I also added a purple paint for the butterfly.

All of the pieces were put together with double sided adhesive tape - plastic and foam.  And coordinating fibers were added.

The supplies are listed here for you.  Come back again tomorrow and see what else the Design Team has to share!

Handy Tip for Artists, Recyclers and Neat Freaks! I have a follow-up to the Citra-Sol method for creating fabulous background pages and collages.   I bought a big bag of navel oranges and realized I had the ingredients to make my own solvent!   Simply take a clean glass jar, peel the rind from the oranges and place all the rind/peels, without the pulp (tangerines, oranges, navels) into the jar.   Pour enough vinegar over the peels to cover them.    Allow the jar to sit for a week or two and VOILA!     You have made your own solvent for literally pennies.    You will notice the liquid getting a bit thicker than the plain vinegar and it does not smell bad!!! I now have a  HUGE jar on the window sill!       Be careful and only use this after testing on a safe spot.
