A little birdie told me!

We are kicking off this month with a new Partner, Gypsy Soul Laser Cuts, you will find them here at ALTERED PAGES!!

This has got to be one of my favorite photos of my sister brother and me!  The expression on our faces are just too cute.  I can imagine what I was saying or what my brother was thinking!  During this month I plan to share some of my tips, tricks and ideas when I scrapbook on pages 6x6... this size book would make a sweet gift for a mother, father, grandmother, aunt, sister and even a friend.

When I work with smaller size pages I usually use wallet size pictures if I am getting them printed.  If I am printing them at home I try to keep them 2 1/2 x 3 1/2 or smaller. For this page I took three sections of the main photo and blew them up.  I call these "focus shots".... the hand holding, feet and the little purse!

Supplies:
Gypsy Soul Laser Cuts Birds on Wire
Embossing Powder - Squash Blossom
Versa Mark
Birdcages & Chandeliers Cardstock
White Gesso
Double Sided Tape
Glue Stick
Tacky Glue
Washi Tape

For this project I used the 12 X 12 Birdcages & Chandeliers Cardstock cut into four - 6 x 6. This page is made with 2 of the 6 x 6 pieces of the Birdcages & Chandeliers Cardstock.

Only one of the Gypsy Soul Laser Cuts Birds on Wire will be used on this page.

One of the end Gypsy Soul Laser Cuts Birds on Wire is inked with VersaMark and heat embossed with Embossing Powder - Squash Blossom.

Take one of the 6 x 6 pieces of the Birdcages & Chandeliers Cardstock and rip it in thirds as shown. Eye ball the bottom third to be sure the smaller photo fit... see next step... The middle piece will not be used on this project.

Turn over the bottom piece of ripped paper and with Double Sided Tape attach the smaller images with the torn edge facing or to the outside. You will see what I mean on the picture of the finished page.

Cut the smaller images apart... leaving the torn edge.

With Double Sided Tape adhere the largest piece of the Birdcages & Chandeliers Cardstock to one of the 6x6 pieces back side of the Birdcages & Chandeliers Cardstock as pictured above.

Dry brush White Gesso on the page.... be sure not to have too much gesso on the brush.

My image was perfect to perch on the paper... looks like a wall for the three to sit on. Adhere the fussy cut image with Glue Stick.

Attach the embossed Gypsy Soul Laser Cut Bird on Wire with Tacky Glue.

Add Washi Tape over the chandeliers partially across the page.

Attach the matted "Focus Shots" over the Washi Tape... it is ready for journaling!

A finished 6x6 layout!!!
Happy Scrapping!

Handy Tip for Artists, Recyclers and Neat Freaks! I have a follow-up to the Citra-Sol method for creating fabulous background pages and collages.   I bought a big bag of navel oranges and realized I had the ingredients to make my own solvent!   Simply take a clean glass jar, peel the rind from the oranges and place all the rind/peels, without the pulp (tangerines, oranges, navels) into the jar.   Pour enough vinegar over the peels to cover them.    Allow the jar to sit for a week or two and VOILA!     You have made your own solvent for literally pennies.    You will notice the liquid getting a bit thicker than the plain vinegar and it does not smell bad!!! I now have a  HUGE jar on the window sill!       Be careful and only use this after testing on a safe spot.
