Sabor Amor Shrine

April has been a fiesta of Sabor! I jumped in with an early preview of Dia de los Muertos. Creating a festive shrine with love and wedding humor was cathartic. Art Therapy at its best.

Here is the ingredient list I chose to cook up this awesome sauce:
Tissue Paper
Thin Wire for Spring
Scrap Plastic

Let's see what I have to work with:

Stazon was used to stamp the bride and groom onto a piece of scrap plastic.

The shrine needs to be scored in the front and back at the seam. This allows the sides to seem hinged.

I placed the paper over the spread of glue.

Great pop of color.

I fussy-cut the te amo, you can just buy it already to go.

Tissue paper was glued to the shrine window.

It looks so great trimmed away.

Next I rubbed a bright Gelato over the chipboard. It made the window look like old painted wood.

The resin flower needed some bling, Stickles did a great job.

The shrine window was dressed up. The glaze from the Gelatos mediums was slicked over the te amo.

Let's add the embossed and fussy-cut mariachi. I used the Gelatos and the water brush to add color.

The spring I coiled from the wire and the dimensional adhesive adhered the mariachi to the shrine.

Here it is from the side:

Let's put it all together and trim the edges with Art Anthology paints.

The extra chipboard from the shrine was great for a spacer between the shrine and the window. All it needs is battery operated tealight behind the window for effect.

I'd love to see what Sabor fun you create. Join our fantabulous Design Team each day this month for more Sabor inspiration!!

Ciao for now,

Handy Tip for Artists, Recyclers and Neat Freaks! I have a follow-up to the Citra-Sol method for creating fabulous background pages and collages.   I bought a big bag of navel oranges and realized I had the ingredients to make my own solvent!   Simply take a clean glass jar, peel the rind from the oranges and place all the rind/peels, without the pulp (tangerines, oranges, navels) into the jar.   Pour enough vinegar over the peels to cover them.    Allow the jar to sit for a week or two and VOILA!     You have made your own solvent for literally pennies.    You will notice the liquid getting a bit thicker than the plain vinegar and it does not smell bad!!! I now have a  HUGE jar on the window sill!       Be careful and only use this after testing on a safe spot.
