Part 2 of Fun with The Mailbox Muse by Stephanie

Welcome to Part 2 of me having a blast playing around with The Mailbox Muse Stamps and the Metallic Lux kit from  Altered Pages.

I started this a couple weeks ago with a tag/board book kit that was part of the Metallic Lux kit from Faber Castell that Altered Pages now carries.  As I mentioned in my part 1 post this kit is loaded with great things.  In that post I created the front cover of this tag book.  Here I will finish it off with the other three pages.

In the picture below I have laid out the first page created in part 1 of this phase and all of the main supplies that were included the Lux kit from Faber Castell.  I ended up not using that bright white tag on the far right side.  I just wasn't sure how I wanted to embellish it without losing the great design that comes already printed on it.  So, that will be saved for another day.

Inside cover, page 1...
I covered the entire page with Oriental vintage text paper and edged the whole tag with a couple blue hues from the Midi StazOn collection of inks.  I then stamped it with a few images from the Mailbox Muse Postal Stamp.

For this next page I used Carbon/Black Chalk paint
and dry brushed the page
using the stencils from the Lux kit.
Here is that finished page after more stenciling and journaling lines were added using the Funky freeform journal stencil.  I also added a bit of glimmer and shine using my Wink of Stella Nib pens in silver and gold.  I'm sure the camera does not pic that up and it is a shame because it is just so pretty.  And, remember there is a supply list at the end of the post with links to everything.  :-)

Here are the next couple of stages.  Most of the base color here came from my Midi StazOns (pic below) just by rubbing the ink pad right on to the tag and the black is the Carbon black chalk paint again.   The beautiful gold, silver, copper and pearl metallics you see were created using the Lux textures in the kit I told you about.  These were applied using the palette knife either directly on the tag or through the stencils also provided in the kit.

Next, time to get stamping...
But first, I want to share with you a little note in case you are new to unmounted red rubber stamps, such as these deeply etched Mailbox Muse stamps that the AP design team is featuring this month.  You don't HAVE to use the cling mounting foam sheets, but if you like to ( I certainly do and the kit is very reasonable through Altered Pages Here ) this is how easy peasy it is.  You just peel off the blue and white paper from the adhesive side of the cling sheet and apply the adhesive side of the foam to the back side of your stamp. And, that is it.  You are ready to cut the stamps to size and be on your way.  No messing with double sided tape.  It is that easy.

Okay, back to the tag book...
I realized this next page I just kinda went on my merry way working the page and forgot to snap a mid way photo or two, oops.

For this page I used the cork tag and basically covered it randomly using all colors of the texture Lux with the palette knife.  I then added strips of Oriental vintage text.  Next, I added more vintage text, but this was first misted with teal green metallic mist.  I spritzed it on and let it drip down the page. When it was dry I tore the pages and applied them as you would any decoupage technique.
Next, I used the Sun stamp from the Celestial Muse stamp.  I stamped this on one of the four images from the Collage Backgrounds Green collage sheet and embossed it in gold. I fussy cut that out and added it to the center of the tag.  Added some more texture and called it good.

The next page was finished off by using the Femmes Muse stamp set...stamping, embossing, fussy cutting, direct stamping and a few gold opulence stickers.
This next page was completed using a bit of butterfly collage and the small dragonfly from the Muse Dragonfly Dreams stamp set.
And, here is the final page (back cover).  This was finished using bits of leftover mist covered vintage text, opulent gold stickers and a beautiful image from the Mystic Asian collage sheet.  Click on this image so you can really see how lovely this collage image is.  This is one of my favorite collage sheets from Altered Pages...you can find it Here.

All done, phew!
front pages...
back pages....

All, secured prettily with a metal ring
and black and pale green tulle.

It sure was fun working all these different stamp sets and varied elements into one tag book.  I really recommend picking up a bunch of these Mailbox Muse deeply etched, one of a kind stamps and at least one of the Faber Castell kits, which you can find Here.  Theses are great "go to" stamps that work for so many occasions.

Please leave me a comment letting me know you were here.  And, come back by tomorrow to see what we have up our sleeve next.

Thanks so much for stopping by!
Have a wonderful and safe weekend.
Stephanie S.

Handy Tip for Artists, Recyclers and Neat Freaks! I have a follow-up to the Citra-Sol method for creating fabulous background pages and collages.   I bought a big bag of navel oranges and realized I had the ingredients to make my own solvent!   Simply take a clean glass jar, peel the rind from the oranges and place all the rind/peels, without the pulp (tangerines, oranges, navels) into the jar.   Pour enough vinegar over the peels to cover them.    Allow the jar to sit for a week or two and VOILA!     You have made your own solvent for literally pennies.    You will notice the liquid getting a bit thicker than the plain vinegar and it does not smell bad!!! I now have a  HUGE jar on the window sill!       Be careful and only use this after testing on a safe spot.
