Hello Dolly

Sometimes when a stamp is cute or detailed you don't want to go overboard with the design of the card you are using it on which was the case today when I played with the Hello Dolly Stamp Set from the Mailbox Muse.  Each quarter these sets make up part of the Mailbox Box Muse Subscription Art Collection.

The stamps contain both images and words set to the theme.  The Hello Dolly Set included the head, arms and legs of this ever so sweet doll.

I used a Kaiser Kraft Paper with polka dots to stamp the arms (part of the dress) and then cut out a dress shape for the body to match.  The head arms (a second set) and legs I stamped on white card and then colored using my Gelatos and Water-Color Pencils.

On my white card base I stamped the Hello Dolly Sentiment with Neon Pink Ink.

I layered all the doll parts onto a die cut oval in pink and added a small white punched heart to finish.

If you don't subscribe to the quarterly kits you can buy some of the stamp sets separately on the Altered Pages site.

Handy Tip for Artists, Recyclers and Neat Freaks! I have a follow-up to the Citra-Sol method for creating fabulous background pages and collages.   I bought a big bag of navel oranges and realized I had the ingredients to make my own solvent!   Simply take a clean glass jar, peel the rind from the oranges and place all the rind/peels, without the pulp (tangerines, oranges, navels) into the jar.   Pour enough vinegar over the peels to cover them.    Allow the jar to sit for a week or two and VOILA!     You have made your own solvent for literally pennies.    You will notice the liquid getting a bit thicker than the plain vinegar and it does not smell bad!!! I now have a  HUGE jar on the window sill!       Be careful and only use this after testing on a safe spot.
