Bag & Tag Your Honey

Needing a cute little bag for your Honey? Don't forget the tag!

This is the supply list I worked with:
Plain kraft bag
Scrap piece of Acetate/Plastic
Low-tack Tape
Bazzill Luggage Tag
Art Anthology Sorbet Vegas Gold Sheen Dimensional
Art Anthology Sorbet Red Velvet Cake Dimensional
Art Anthology Velvet Mayan Gold Dimensional
Embossing Powder
Steampunk Female Unmounted Rubber Stamp
Black Pigment Ink
12" Celtic Circle Stencil
Length of Regimental Ribbon
Spray Inks

Kraft gift bags accumulate after celebrations. It's a great blank canvas to create upon. I taped the edges to flatten.

I chose a large stencil as my design for the front of my bag. The 12" Celtic Circle Stencil was a great choice to cover a large space with a simple geometric design.

I wanted some gold shimmer, but needed some depth too. First coat of spray was my base flat yellow.

The next coat was a shimmery gold spray.

There you have it!!

Next up is the tag. The Bazzill Luggage Tag has a wonderful surface to embellish.

I covered the surface with this yummy Art Anthology Sorbet Vegas Gold Sheen Dimensional to give it a shiny base. Set aside to dry.

The dimensional acrylic is easy to emboss upon.  I wanted a Victorian patina look and used Embossing Powder with the Steampunk Female Unmounted Rubber Stamp for the effect I was looking for.

Here it is embossed:

The color was still too crisp for me and I wanted a more muted look.  I covered the entire tag with Art Anthology Velvet Mayan Gold Dimensional, the Velvet Dimensional Acrylic is a great matte look--it really does look velvety.

Now there is the muted look I was looking for. Hmm, I need a heart for my Honey and I cannot find a stencil that works for me.  Diecuts and holiday plastic scraps to the rescue. (Please tell me I'm not the only one who saves the plastic packaging so prevalent at Christmas time? It is so handy--and free!)

My scrap plastic at work:

Beautiful!

The sideview of gorgeous texture:

You can still see the detail, but it's not overwhelming.

Here is the entire bag and tag for my Honey!! I tied the tag with the beautiful Length of Regimental Ribbon that is also manly. It ties my color scheme together. (Pun intended-lol).

Handy Tip for Artists, Recyclers and Neat Freaks! I have a follow-up to the Citra-Sol method for creating fabulous background pages and collages.   I bought a big bag of navel oranges and realized I had the ingredients to make my own solvent!   Simply take a clean glass jar, peel the rind from the oranges and place all the rind/peels, without the pulp (tangerines, oranges, navels) into the jar.   Pour enough vinegar over the peels to cover them.    Allow the jar to sit for a week or two and VOILA!     You have made your own solvent for literally pennies.    You will notice the liquid getting a bit thicker than the plain vinegar and it does not smell bad!!! I now have a  HUGE jar on the window sill!       Be careful and only use this after testing on a safe spot.
