Making spirits bright

Hi Everyone,
Jess here with a great way for you to make something new out of something old.

I love the big old Christmas bulbs.  I usually have bowls of them all over the house this time of the year.  I also have a thing for snowmen.  I have a huge snowman display in the house.  So, do you want to build a snowman with me?

Take your old Christmas bulb and squash a Styrofoam ball on top.  I hollowed mine out a bit and then glued it on to make sure it is really secure.  Once the ball is on cover it with Activa PREMIER POLYMER AIR DRY CLAY
.

I love this clay.  It dries super fast and is a pure white, so I don't have to spend time painting my snowmen! I have also used Activa's Celluclay to make snowmen. This gives a great primitive texture to the snowmen. The celluclay is gray so you need to paint them white or cream. Make your snowmen and let them dry overnight. Once they are dry you can paint on your face using acrylic paint.

When the paint is dry cover the entire head with a clear glue and quickly cover in a transparent glitter.  I typically leave them to dry overnight after this step as well.

Then it is time to decorate.  I use it all- tinsel, mercury glass beads, brads, buttons, ribbon, perlier beads, pinecones, dew drops whatever I can find in the stash.

That is what makes this so fun.  Each one is different.
I'm going to ask you again, do you want to build a snowman?
Happy crafting!
Jess

Handy Tip for Artists, Recyclers and Neat Freaks! I have a follow-up to the Citra-Sol method for creating fabulous background pages and collages.   I bought a big bag of navel oranges and realized I had the ingredients to make my own solvent!   Simply take a clean glass jar, peel the rind from the oranges and place all the rind/peels, without the pulp (tangerines, oranges, navels) into the jar.   Pour enough vinegar over the peels to cover them.    Allow the jar to sit for a week or two and VOILA!     You have made your own solvent for literally pennies.    You will notice the liquid getting a bit thicker than the plain vinegar and it does not smell bad!!! I now have a  HUGE jar on the window sill!       Be careful and only use this after testing on a safe spot.
