What happens in Vegas...

Hello!  Robin here with a scrapbook project for you today.  Las Vegas, Nevada has a very special place in my heart.  It's where my husband and I got married 20 years ago.  In that time, so many things have changed in the city that never stops moving.  Even though I haven't been back since then, it's a little sad to know that our cute little chapel is gone now.  So is the little hotel at the far end of the strip where we stayed.  Glad I have them both captured on film!

Altered Pages has so many art supplies that are perfect for scrapbooking.  I'm a pretty basic scrapper and all of my books are in 8 1/2 by 11 format.  Back when I started scrapping there were not very many places to buy the 12 x 12 albums, and binders for letter size paper are always plentiful.

I like the photos to be the main focus on each page with just a few highlights.  I chose paper flowers, gold opulence corners, a few journal words and game pieces to compliment my photos and the collage images from AP.  The string of gems are from the Hollywood Glam & Horror Mailbox Muse kit.  Some images from the Viva Las Vegas and Vintage Las Vegas collage sheets to highlight my own photos.  They all blend so well together it's difficult even for me to tell which is which.

Las Vegas hosts an average of 115,000 weddings a year!  The only rule my husband had when I suggested getting married in Las Vegas is that I could not choose an Elvis impersonator.  Yep, you can even have "Elvis" marry you!

Come back again tomorrow to see where the design team will take you next as we travel across the USA through art.  Please comment daily to share the love with our artists and be entered into the random drawing for a package of vintage postcards and a vintage map.  (value 17.00)

  1. Robin you made me chuckle. My Fiancé and I have joked many times about just going to Vegas but we would want an Elvis impersonator. Second time around you want it to be fun! Thank you for sharing these special memories.

  3. I have a friend that was married by an Elvis impersonator and to beat it all her and her husband dressed as Mr and Mrs Santa Claus since it was on Christmas Eve. Needless to say their wedding photos are great conversation starters. Great job on the layout!

Handy Tip for Artists, Recyclers and Neat Freaks! I have a follow-up to the Citra-Sol method for creating fabulous background pages and collages.   I bought a big bag of navel oranges and realized I had the ingredients to make my own solvent!   Simply take a clean glass jar, peel the rind from the oranges and place all the rind/peels, without the pulp (tangerines, oranges, navels) into the jar.   Pour enough vinegar over the peels to cover them.    Allow the jar to sit for a week or two and VOILA!     You have made your own solvent for literally pennies.    You will notice the liquid getting a bit thicker than the plain vinegar and it does not smell bad!!! I now have a  HUGE jar on the window sill!       Be careful and only use this after testing on a safe spot.
