Beach Bums

Hi and welcome.   Stephanie here with a little WIP (work in progress) for you.   I am loving the Take a Trip theme this month on the Alteredpages.com blog.   It is perfect for a project that I have wanted to get going on...a family album for an amazing trip to Hawaii!   It was one of those once in a lifetime vacations and therefore it deserves an entire album dedicated to only that!   I am just getting started here and I will share with you one of my beginning layouts.   I have included a supply list at the end of  the post and it includes a few goodies that will be added as the pages develop.   The gears are in motion though!

Above you can see that I have printed an oh so cute collage sheet ( you can find Blue Hawaii here   )  in just black and white so I would colorize the images as I chose.  I also used my corner rounder to give the cut outs that old fashion photo look rather than square edges.  And, below is that very collage sheet before colorizing.  I actually printed it a couple times in varying intensity of black and white.  That is the great thing about ordering digital from Altered Pages, you have freedom to create just the look and size you desire.  I actually have a couple Hawaii themed collages here.  They will both be perfect.

And, below the kiddos get added to their page.  They regularly tell me that the MUST go back to Hawaii and I completely agree.

Working on this and going through all the fun pictures of luau's, beaches, pineapples, etc. I can't wait to go back.  The album will have to do for now.  I can't wait to add all the fun extras.  I actually have a few things on their way to me from Alteredpages.com as we speak meant just for this...come on UPS guy!  Hurry, hurry!

Supply list -
Vintage Hawaii Collage Sheet - I did not use this one on this WIP, but it for sure will make it into this album.
Kaisercraft Paper Pads - The "Check-In" themed pack will be awesome for this project.  I can't wait to get it!
Fabric Flowers - These will also be perfect!

Handy Tip for Artists, Recyclers and Neat Freaks! I have a follow-up to the Citra-Sol method for creating fabulous background pages and collages.   I bought a big bag of navel oranges and realized I had the ingredients to make my own solvent!   Simply take a clean glass jar, peel the rind from the oranges and place all the rind/peels, without the pulp (tangerines, oranges, navels) into the jar.   Pour enough vinegar over the peels to cover them.    Allow the jar to sit for a week or two and VOILA!     You have made your own solvent for literally pennies.    You will notice the liquid getting a bit thicker than the plain vinegar and it does not smell bad!!! I now have a  HUGE jar on the window sill!       Be careful and only use this after testing on a safe spot.
