Wine for Dinner Pocket Letter™

Hello Altered Pages fans!  Barbara here, and we have some fun in store for you this month.  We are partnering with Jannette Lane, who started Pocket Letters™. Altered Pages is sponsoring a Pocket Altered Page swap as well. You can find all the details about the swap, as well as a brief video tutorial about this fun new letter form, at the end of this post.

Here is my version of a Pocket Altered Page. I left this fairly flat, (no dimension) which is so unlike me, but if you want to mail it, it might be wise to do so.  Folded up, this will fit into a #10 envelope.

These pockets will hold paper that measures 2-1/2" x 3-1/2", just like an ATC or sports trading card. I first used the cream Paper ATC Cardstock Pack as my base for each of my little pocket treasures. Next, I printed my digital images and cut them to ATC size. Some images were fussy cut and adhered to the base images. I distressed the edges of all papers with the Ranger Blending Tool and Brilliance Coffee Bean ink pad. I used the Forest Green Silks acrylic glaze to color the German Scrap orners, and hit the high spots with the Delicata Golden Glitz ink pad.
On the back, I used these illuminated letters from, I believe, a retired Mailbox Muse kit, called Alphapalooza.  Funny thing, I was able to spell my name with the letters on this collage sheet.  So I decided to use them as my signature.  In the two remaining pockets, I added a few trinkets to give to my recipient, a couple of flattened bottle caps, some light bulb safety pins, and some wooden game pieces, all available from Altered Pages

Handy Tip for Artists, Recyclers and Neat Freaks! I have a follow-up to the Citra-Sol method for creating fabulous background pages and collages.   I bought a big bag of navel oranges and realized I had the ingredients to make my own solvent!   Simply take a clean glass jar, peel the rind from the oranges and place all the rind/peels, without the pulp (tangerines, oranges, navels) into the jar.   Pour enough vinegar over the peels to cover them.    Allow the jar to sit for a week or two and VOILA!     You have made your own solvent for literally pennies.    You will notice the liquid getting a bit thicker than the plain vinegar and it does not smell bad!!! I now have a  HUGE jar on the window sill!       Be careful and only use this after testing on a safe spot.
