Feature Guest Janette Lane

Altered Pages is honored to introduce
Janette Lane
creator of
Pocket Letter Pals™

We hope you will join us in welcoming her to our Blog and enjoy the Pocket projects in June!

Hi there, my name is Janette! I'm the author of "Janette Lane Blog", a paper crafter, and a snail mail enthusiast! I live in California where I lead a simple and blessed life with my wonderful husband, Justin (aka Lovey).
I'm also the creator of Pocket Letter Pals ™  an organized and artistic way to send penpal letters around the world. I love anything having to do with creative correspondence (couldn't resist the urge to complete that alliteration) blogging, and arts and crafts. I also have a penchant for planners, journaling, photography, hamburgers, and thrifting. I am inspired by the world around me and I always try to look for the humor and beauty in everyday life. I
believe it is the "little things" that make life BIG!

Have you ever sold a piece of your Art?  I haven’t sold any Pocket Letters, but I have sold other art. Namely digital custom portraits (mostly family portraits) via my blog.

Where do you create? I think as I create more and more, I find that my workspace of choice is the floor. I like sitting and spreading my materials and supplies all around me. Being in the midst of my crafty chaos just makes sense and keeps me feeling inspired!

Handy Tip for Artists, Recyclers and Neat Freaks! I have a follow-up to the Citra-Sol method for creating fabulous background pages and collages.   I bought a big bag of navel oranges and realized I had the ingredients to make my own solvent!   Simply take a clean glass jar, peel the rind from the oranges and place all the rind/peels, without the pulp (tangerines, oranges, navels) into the jar.   Pour enough vinegar over the peels to cover them.    Allow the jar to sit for a week or two and VOILA!     You have made your own solvent for literally pennies.    You will notice the liquid getting a bit thicker than the plain vinegar and it does not smell bad!!! I now have a  HUGE jar on the window sill!       Be careful and only use this after testing on a safe spot.
