Organizing Tips from Artists

As, promised February Blog posts will be dedicated to helping you organize.

But first, THANKS to DecoArt and our fantastic Design Team for all the creative art pieces in January.

I also wanted to share an ATB I created and have Linked to the UnrulyArts
"Inspire your Heart with Art"

Wood ATB with feet,  gold acrylic paint, gold foiling, paper embellishment, metallic fibers and a wood block with a metal picture clip inserted.   Perfect manly gift for his desk.

You will still see awesome art from our Team plus some fun and helpful tips from names you may know in the ARTS/CRAFTS industry.

I have asked the question "How to you stay organized?"  Pro organizers share their suggestions:

Nancie Lively has been creatively stamping and scrapbooking since 1990. Her precise eye for color and composition is amazing.   Nancie creates what she calls .....
Project Boxes.

For each project on her work space she creates cigar box beauties to contain tools and supplies while working.  Papers are used to cover the interior and labels can be attached to the outside.  How many times have we all said..where are the scissors? (buried under papers)
Your Project Box can be accomplished with any sturdy shallow box, however the cigar boxes hold up to use.   Not only can you use this to be organized for a specific project but it can be stacked or shelved for future projects.  We always seem to have "bits & schnibs" of  papers and trims but where do they fit into the crafting chaos?   I must admit that Nancie is one of THE most organized crafters I have ever seen!

Here are some dollar store items I have on my work
space....wrangling Markers can be challenging, here is one way I keep mine handy. Plastic flower pots are colorful and allow the tall markers, pens and brushes to be seen and easily accessible.  Plus the removable dish can be used for water and a resting spot for brushes...CHEAP TOO!

Have fun creating and getting more organized each day this month!   We will have many tips for you...
Our giveaway this month will be a Treasure Box of supplies and tools!  Gotta comment share us on your Facebook page to be eligible. (tell us you shared)

The February Giveway will include a Cigar Box with binder clips, ATC cards, Momento Marker, oversized paper clips and a sturdy colorful band for closure.

  12. Since I'm in an organizing frame of mind - my SO is returning after being away quite a while - I didn't know art supplies could travel and spread out so much on their own - (that's my story & I'm sticking to it! ) I love the cigar box idea for individual projects!

Handy Tip for Artists, Recyclers and Neat Freaks! I have a follow-up to the Citra-Sol method for creating fabulous background pages and collages.   I bought a big bag of navel oranges and realized I had the ingredients to make my own solvent!   Simply take a clean glass jar, peel the rind from the oranges and place all the rind/peels, without the pulp (tangerines, oranges, navels) into the jar.   Pour enough vinegar over the peels to cover them.    Allow the jar to sit for a week or two and VOILA!     You have made your own solvent for literally pennies.    You will notice the liquid getting a bit thicker than the plain vinegar and it does not smell bad!!! I now have a  HUGE jar on the window sill!       Be careful and only use this after testing on a safe spot.
