Lisa Fulmer is a well-known craft industry professional and she shares how to work with craft foam. In her new book, Stylish Craft Foam Projects,” she describes the differences between foams available to use when crafting. She describes what the purpose of each of type of foam and products that work best with each of them.  Lisa's book is packed full of great projects to inspire your creativity throughout the year! I had the privilege to review Stylish Craft Foam Projects and was so inspired I pulled out some SmoothFoam ornaments from my stash.  Following Lisa’s suggestions for working with SmoothFoam I found it much easier than my past trial and errors!  If you like to craft with foam I highly recommend adding this book to your library! Learn more about Lisa Fulmer and books on her blog HERE!
 
Christmas ornaments with SmoothFoam

 

 
Two tips I will share with you that I used making my ornaments...
 
the first, sanding the edges before painting.
 
 
The second, working with the foam on skewers.... there is so much more in the book... worth the read!

 
Supplies used:
Bell - Paint, ribbon, twine and decorative embellishments (pinecones & holly)
Snowman - Gesso - Top Hat, eyes, toothpick nose, beads, buttons and fiber
Tree - Paint, twine and Dew Drops 
WINK of STELLA was paint on each to give them some sparkle!

 Handy Tip for Artists, Recyclers and Neat Freaks! I have a follow-up to the Citra-Sol method for creating fabulous background pages and collages.   I bought a big bag of navel oranges and realized I had the ingredients to make my own solvent!   Simply take a clean glass jar, peel the rind from the oranges and place all the rind/peels, without the pulp (tangerines, oranges, navels) into the jar.   Pour enough vinegar over the peels to cover them.    Allow the jar to sit for a week or two and VOILA!     You have made your own solvent for literally pennies.    You will notice the liquid getting a bit thicker than the plain vinegar and it does not smell bad!!! I now have a  HUGE jar on the window sill!       Be careful and only use this after testing on a safe spot.
